CSS Sportsnite 17tard just went balls out and said Mullen made a huge mistake.
Said "Nobody can win at MS State unless you cheat like Sherril did"

He went on to say that "...with Saban, Miles, and now Nutt at Ole Miss... MS State will always be a 4 win school"

Who is that guy? He's one of the regulars. The tall slightly younger looking guy with a REALLY short buzz cut and glasses. Went to the website to find his email, but couldn't find him anywhere on the site.

Local Ole Miss super-homer, Jacob, basically said the same thing on Ingram's show on 930. Said that MSU was hands down the worst job in the nation and would never be able to run the spread, recruit anybody, or ever be able to compete in the SEC. The best part was, he talked from the point of view that Ole Miss is now one of the SEC's elite. 17 your stupid ***, Jacob.

and beliefs of fans, Ole Miss and Mississippi State would be in the BCS championship game every year. What is most dangerous about us is that we have this wee, distant memory of a decade of success with the "almost did it" year of 2003. It's kinda like smoking, you can quit for a long time and then you get drunk one night and have a ciggie with a friend and it takes another three years to quit again.

The 85 scholarship rule is really just beginning to impact Division One football. It has taken this long largely because of domestic immigration patterns and the impact of population growth generally. Who would have EVER thought Cincinnati or Rutgers would be talked about for post-season play. ESPN lives in fear of the Mississippi or Utah or Illinois schools achieving anything that looks like chronic, moderate success.

And that's what kills me! UM had a legacy quarterback recruit who would eventually go on to become the Super Bowl MVP of the World Champion NY Giants and they STILL couldn't make it to Atlanta. Last I checked it was just 10 short years ago that we were playing in Atlanta and nearly beat the eventual national champs. Sounds like the same Bama homer that said State should be kicked out of the SEC right before we beat them 3 yrs in a row! Why all the State hating??

WAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT a minute... isn't this what we've been waiting for! Everybody hated us when we were kicking their butts with Sherril. Everybody loved us when we hired Croomed and we promptly went 20-38. Now they hate us again... signs of good things to come? signs that we're headed in the right direction??

I wouldn't go that far. Mullen still has to produce. On the other hand, it doesn't take much for the fans on the plantation to get all high and mighty.

After hearing great things were with the previous coaches its nice to see people get a little uncomfortable with the situation. It makes me feel better about the hire. He can keep on telling us we can't win more than 4 games and we'll just continue to win 7-8 a year and make a few stops in Atlanta along the way.

as crappy as we were, we could have easily won the KY, AU and La Tech games. That would have put us in a bowl of some kind and most would be somewhat happy. No doubt, it won't be easy for Mullen....but we he can have some success here. Maybe not Florida success, but successful none the less.

That the only reason Ole Miss didnt go to Atlanta in 2003 is because the eventual national champs were in our division and beat us. We were 7-1 in the SEC and a very good team, just bad circumstances.

Well I'll be damn. Where I come from, that's what they call 2nd place.

But, by all means, break out the asterisks and championship banners.

I love this. Mullen and the players will have to deal with this the entire offseason. Let them say what they want to. It just fires our guys up more to prove them wrong. Mississippi State has the same chance of winning that most people in the SEC do with the right leadership.

I believe it was " you can win a national championship right here" . Now I`m not a big Corso fan and his statement was over the top but he`s got more credibility as the numb nuts mentioned above. We`re not a "4 win school" and it would take a miracle for us to win a NC but we should be able to play .500 or better ball year in and year out with a good year mixed in about every third year.

It's going to take time for him to instill a new attitude. But for that idiot to say that State will never win more the 4 games is just idiotic. Time will tell whether Mullen is right for the job... but I'm pretty dang sure you guys have upgraded big time. Hope you guys bounce back... you being successful equals us having to stay on our toes as well. Good luck.

Not that y'all really care what this Hog fan has to say, but I think you made a good hire. A better hire than the OU OC in my opinion. While I hope we get back to our dominance of MissState, I think you will now be competitive on both sides of the ball and surprise a lot of folks. 4 wins is a joke and completely wrong.

P.S. I've been reading this board for a few weeks on and off now. I've learned that we have a lot to learn about Hating Ole Miss. I look forward to your guidance. Thanks and Good Luck!

a few kind words are appreciated. As far as hating Ole Miss just wait until next summer when they go absolutely ape **** crazy and start predicting total dominance of the SEC and a national title. You`ll get a belly full of them and your old coach.

to agree. if we had an offense in 1998 we would have been undefeated with that defense.

I think Corso said "Mississippi State is a quarterback away from the National Championship" when Madkin was a freshman. However, I think it was a couple of years ago Corso actually said that you could not have sustained success every year at Mississippi State.

All i remember Corso EVER saying about us was in 99 when we were 8-0.
Most were celebrating us as the 'cardiac kids' for all the come from behind wins. We finally cracked the top ten and Corso says "This is the worst top ten team I have ever seen... of ALL time!" I will NEVER forget that.

When he came to the hunter henry center and spoke that time he said that "You can't win a National Championship in Mississippi without cheating" And I immediately thought back to the exact statement that you spoke of. I asked the question that prompted that answer. All I asked him is if he thought that the NCAA treated larger market schools the same way they treated smaller one.

I just want us to compete! A National Championship might be a distant dream and would take a very special team and several stars to align just right, but to field a competitive team season in and season out is NOT too much to ask. To be bowling each year should be the norm. The exceptions should be a year when we fall short, get shafted, or something to that effect. We should not be skull17ed the last game of the season and have a coach that just looks at the camera and say "uhhh, i don't know what just happened, it's a mystery". That's bullshite!
