State will be good next year and Ole Miss will not.

In related news: Ole Miss sucked this year and State finished in the top 25 and won the Gator and Egg Bowls.

Just thought I would point that out for the folks that seem to think you win trophies or bannersfor recruiting.

PS: Yes I realize the importance of recruiting but I have never in my life seen anyone walking around with a "Recruiting Champs" t-shirt.</p>

Tuscaloosa was celebrating their #1 recruiting class. Of course they finished that up with a #1 finish in the polls, too.

This season's 5th year Seniors for Mississippi went 4-8- their class was ranked 16th- the 4 yr seniors were ranked 27th

You would think great rankings like that would produce better.

If you'll remember we signed a top 10 and a top 20 class. This was back when I actually gave a hoot about recruiting and paid attention to the star system. I thought they were going to be crucial to a turnaround. Well, beginning with that class we signed in 2002, they went 3-9, 2-10, 3-8, 3-8, 3-9, 8-5, 4-8. So, 5th year seniors from the 2003 signing class, however many were still on the team at that point, finally went to a bowl game in 2007. Most of those players were busts. On top of that, those classes were heavily skewed away from OL and DL. I learned a few things during those years, mostly that stars don't mean diddly, recruiting OL and DL is more important than anything else at State, and that recruiting is worthless unless you develop and properly use your talent. Get back to me and show me what they do on the field.

Every year in recent memory, at least, specifically, every year of the Croom Dynasty, SPS claimed recruiting trophies.

Maybe you were meaning to put Gene's Page in that sentence. For the most part, there was nothing but contempt here for Croom's efforts on the recruiting trail.

Eddie O was winning the recruiting national title every year?

"Every year in recent memory, at least, specifically, every year of the Croom Dynasty, SPS claimed recruiting trophies."

That may be the most false statement ever posted on Sixpack.

Even when O was out-recruiting State, your fans were claiming a title.
