I bet Alabama wishes they had one of those statue qbs right about now. That flashy dual threat has kept Clemson in the game tonight.

We have two really good defenses here. Awesome game. Isn't Hurts a freshman?

This game is a blowout right now if Alabama has an even competent qb. Hurts is flat out brutal. He was pathetic in the Washington game too.

You may think that, but I do not. Clemson has a heck of a good defense. I like Hurts. Even Bama's D has made Watson look like Armstrong at times. Brutal to try and stay in the pocket.

He is a dual threat QB, which for 90% or morw dual threat QBs means they lack the accuracy of a prostyle QB (IMO).

He is a freshman and a damn good one.

He will get better, but some of his deep passes have looked like some of TAs bombs way past the receiver.

He will continue to lead Bama to wins in the future and probably win the heisman since he could end up being their best player on the best team for 3 more years.

This game is not over.

The defense is leading them to wins. Come on

2016 Alabama is the GREATEST college football team of all time!

They would beat the Browns 34-0!

We all get ahead of ourselves sometimes and this was one of those times many people did.

He'll get drafted to the NFL because he's an excellent passing QB that makes good decisions. The mobility is just gravy. Tremendous player and I think like Frazier, Watson should have won the Heisman. I don't care what the stats were, Watson's got it all. BTW, Gebbia had a Bama offer...and he chose DL and Mike Riley to play for. Actually so did KJJ and Guy Thomas

I think we can all agree on one thing ...
a 60% pass - 40% run ratio will win you championships .. you have to sling the rock

Did he officially declare last night?

Thing is, if he was just a great passer...they get killed last night. If he was just a great runner...they get killed last night. This is why every coach should want a QB that can run and pass.
IF I could only have one of the two though I would take the passer with just enough mobility to evade a rush or scramble for a few yards when things break down. A guy like Ryker has plenty of mobility if he could pass it a little better.

Alabama signed the number one dual threat QB in the country this year.

What do they know.

Unfortunately there are not many QBs that can run and pass extremely well.
There are hundreds that can run and pass decently, but cannot pass good enough at the D1 level (60-70 completion %).

Best recent true dual threat QBs in college?

Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, Teddy Bridgewater, RG3, Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Marcus Mariota come to mind because they were excellent passers (at the college level) and runners, not just great runners that lacked passing abilities, or what I call RBs playing QB.

I would take any of those QBs listed above for Mike Riley's system because they could make all of the passes, hence the reason they were drafted at the QB position in the NFL. Many of those listed completed 63% or more of their passes in college, some over 70% for one year.

Unfortunately for Nebraska the last 7 years, we have recruited the dual threat QBs that are basically a single threat against the great defenses.
