By now I'm sure y'all have seen the updated renderings of DNF, but I thought this picture was most interesting.

Bulldog baseball statues? And as far as I know, the first statues of athletes at State?

If it's not a statue of Ron Polk angrily typing a letter to the NCAA on a typewriter, I'm not interested.

Geez, it's been a while since I was in school but I don't remember that happening very often. Usually just during Super Bulldog weekend.

Palmeiro and Rooker? If there's 2, those are the only triple crown winners in SEC history, so it may make sense.

Someone used to have a photoshop of Polk with a bucket of paint and a paintbrush, like he was coming to cover up his name on the outside of the stadium. That would be the perfect statue to me.

I've always thought of Raffy at Lightning and Clark as Thunder. But I really don't know if that's just me or not.

On a different note, who should we havevstatues for in other sports? I'm voting Varnado for hoops since he is the all time leading shot blocker.

The detail in this

drawing is amazing. Someone really did their homework. Roughly 50% the folks aren't wearing maroon.

Good call. That's a no brainer and it just slipped my mind. He would be the obvious easy choice.

Nah. Boo has too much identity with DSU....

Boo Ferriss and ?

Thunder and lighting are the perfect choices. Both All-americans. Raffy a triple crown winner, Clark an olympian and golden spikes winner. Both very successful and identifiable from MLB. Its just such a tragedy that a HOF worthy MLB career and a man's reputation was destroyed so breathtakingly fast and with such finality. Now its virtually impossible for even the most staunch maroon blooded to hear his name without the scandal flashing immediately through the mind.

Somebody should fark the photo to include Stingray, Polk and a typewriter, some Ole Miss graffiti, maybe a peepin Croom... etc etc. There's a lot you could cram into that shot.
