I don't think teams are allowed to go two years without making a pick in the first round, so either the picks are going to be next year's 1st rounder and then one three years from now, or one of the picks came from another team.
Nash and Kobe probably make the lakers good enough for the next two years that even their first round draft pick won't be great; at best middle of the first round where the draft picks will be hit or miss. If Nash can still be the same player while accommodating Kobe (I'm not sure he can; seems like he needs the ball too much), they could be pretty good and it could be a late round pick. If there is one three years out, that could have some value, especially if mortgage the future to try to make one last push with Kobe.
The second round picks are throw-aways to me. Plenty of good talent there but you have to be able to spot it and/or get lucky.
Seems like a better deal for the Suns, just because I don't think putting Nash next to Kobe is going to get the immediate results that would justify mortgaging the future, but not a steal for the Suns.
