So hard to believe that SRV died 25 years ago today. Such a massive talent. IMHO the greatest guitar player of all time. I've never watched anyone do things with a guitar like he did.

I'll be listening to SRV all day today.

I started a new job that day and heard about his death on the way there. By the time I made it to my office it was lunch time. My supervisor and three other guys were playing cards when I arrived.

Supervisor said "you don't seem too happy to be here", and I said "Stevie Ray Vaughn died last night". We discussed it for a few minutes and he said "do you want to go to my house and drink whiskey and listen to SRV all day" and I said "yes, I do".

Left early my first day, called in sick the next because we drank more whiskey than a normal human can endure. Seems like those days are farther away than just 25 years but I still think of what could have been if he hadn't died.

Currently having lunch at Broussard's in Cape Girardeau and SRV is all they're playing. I may really stretch this lunch out before heading back to work.

Stevie's performance of Voodoo Child on Austin City Limits is the best that I have ever heard. The first time I heard it I was working at an electronics store and this performance was included on the laser disc compilation they would send to play on the TV displays. I never got tired of it, but "I hope you dance" on the other hand, well I hope I never hear it again. o_O

Got home from work that night, and my dad said a guitarist had died in a plane crash. He thought it was Eric Clapton. Scared me, I had tickets to an upcoming show. I was relieved when it was SRV. The mind of an 18 year old...........................

One for a slow Sunday afternoon

One of my all time favorites.

I remember pulling into the parking lot at UK to go to class when I heard the news on the radio. I remember the sky was clear and blue that day. It's odd the things like that that you remember.
