Still somewhat amazed at our lack of power....

even with the new bats. We only have 14 HRs (Ogden with 6) on the season after 37 games and 6 HRs in conference after 15 games (Ogden with 3). Heck, we even have Parks leading the league in average at .402 yet out of all of those hits he's only had one homer. Takes a LOT of hits and walks and errors etc. to score much in an inning when you really can't ever get a long ball. We beat Florida in that first game for the most part with Ogden's 2 homers that night but other than that we've had to fight and claw for every run scored.

had trouble hitting them out with the old bats, much less these new bats. And then we have several freshmen that play regularly that are trying to adjust to the SEC. So, it's not too surprising- and I haven't even talked about Dudy-Noble Field and the big power alleys.

About power in general- Mikie Mahtook from LSU is leading the SEC with 10 right now. 15 might lead the SEC- and 20 is now a phenomenal number.

most thought at the beginning of the year we would be a better team simply because this would help our pitching so much. I think if you are LSU you hate these bats cause you are built for gorilla ball, but for us and our lineup this is the best case senario

but definitely disappointed that we will likely only end up with one player on the entire team reach the 5 HR plateau for the season. I know the HRs have been drastically cut across the board but we've got to recruit to get 2 or 3 guys in the lineup that are a threat to hit the long ball. You certainly don't want to gear your team to that with our park and the new bats but we've lost several SEC games by giving up the lead via the HR yet our team really doesn't have the capability to do that.
