Gee is notably one of the best & well recognized Presidents in the country and the fact WVU professors have allowed political BS to obscure their logic is a travesty for the generation of future leaders studying there now.

Its somewhat hilarious they cry about Vic Koenning, but then literally inject policitcs into their classroom on a daily basis. In fact, there has been some drama about this in the past, regarding a professor treating kids differently if they did not share their political beliefs and making it extremely challenging to obtain an appropriate grade.. Im pretty sure we can all guess who the professor is/was...

WVU professors need to understand the state in which they teach. While WVU may be in the northern part of the state, its light years away from a liberal state. I would agree with them on one fact, they should be more inclusiveness and more diversity within the hiring, perhaps they should hire a few more conservatives to bring a bit more diversity of perspectives to Morgantown! This could very well have a major impact on where parents choose to send their kids to college. They could very well be a massive exodus to Marshall if this gains steam.

If this "vote" has any weight, it will be a fkn sad day for WVU

Its racist to even care about how many people of color are where what and how. That in itself is racist. Racism will never be eradicated, but will be reduced considerably when people stop looking at the skin color of other people and making any decisions whatsoever that are based upon one's skin color. Strive to be "color blind," in other words. Moreover, stop being ashamed of your race, whether you are a person of color or a caucasion. WVU has a problem with lack of diversity. Not because there arent diverse candidates qualified to do a great job for WVU, but because there has been a racist system in place that excludes qualified candidates in favor of good ole boy hires whether qualified or not.

The fact that WVU and WV are so far behind other states and universities in a variety of areas illustrates clearly that hiring and electing based on being only white and male has been an absolute disaster.

About time WVU starts correcting such an erroneous system which has WVU ranked at the bottom of P5 schools academically and far behind financially compared to what should be peer schools.

CFE, I am 61 and still remember going though St. Marys, WV and seeing a sign at either end of town "ni@@er, don't let the sun go down on you here." In my most recent job of working on the gas well pads, there was a black company man. He WAS the boss. Since I was signing in people, he would ask me specific questions or my @ss was grass and he was the lawn mower. I've spent my entire adult life running one of the largest medical device companies in the country. What WVU Medicine is doing is what every major healthcare provider is doing...and it makes perfect sense. Most in the industry think we are headed to less than 100 major health systems that own/manage the over 5000 hospitals across America. Under the moniker of "only the big survive", you have to have critical mass and size to compete financially. When you sit at the table with the big payers of healthcare (insurance companies and the Fed), you have to have size to negotiate & compete. Bad analogy, but think of it like football teams/conferences. When sitting at the table with ESPN, who do you think has the most power / leverage? The SEC or Conference USA?

You don't have to like it, but that is the reality.
