Well we should have like 20 million to offer since we literally don’t have any other players. He can come here and sit out with a knee injury and look pretty on the bench if he wants. He’s getting drafted regardless.
Oregon just overpaid for Jasper Johnson
NIKE has helped us a ton with Stokes . They have stepped up for us like they do for Duke . Can’t blame NIKE if we don’t get Stokes . Fact is …..NIKE is the ONLY reason we are even a consideration.

I will go on record, we have zero chance, he will be a duck, he‘s wasting Pope’s time and likely along with Freeman were the final blows to his tenure at UK. When this happens, I believe Pope will be relieved of command.

I’m sure the financials were close, though I don’t believe for a second he and his advisors thought Pope would do better than Pitino at coaching him.
He wouldn’t be re-emphasizing Oregon if Oregon wasn’t going to be the pick

I just don’t see a reality where this dude wants to play for Mark Pope. He’s going to make money anywhere, and I’m sure he’d take a bit less if he had to in order to stay away from Mark. Just my opinion. I’d be less surprised if he picked Arkansas at the last minute.
I wish, but neither Eli or Mitch have the balls to do this. And Pope won't have the guts to admit he's in over his head to the point that it's best to just walk away while he can and save some face. If he understands the assignment, he should understand clearly that he's not meeting the requirements of the assignment.
I’d rather Stokes end up at Oregon than KU. I am also in the camp that he isn’t coming here. He doesn’t want to play here. He’s just going through motions to appease Nike who has found him his landing spot.
Oregon was 5-15 last year in the B10 and 12-20 overall. Yikes.
Oregon has Sean Stewart returning (Former Duke and OSU player) as well as Andrew Meadow coming in from Boise St and Compton from SDSU. I think they are both better than Jasper and all 3 crowd the positions that Stokes would be playing (along with Riley and Ariza).
It's funny because their entire team is full of wings and power forwards, SF/PF types, other than Johnson.

I think if Pope goes 500 or below before Jan, he has to be let go. But again, it all depends on the AD. If the new AD is Marc Hill, we are toast.
I agree. That's why I feel like the next AD hire is significant in UK's trajectory. It would be the next AD who fires Pope.
I'd agree, but Pope can't land them. However, the Stokes' money is mainly off the books $ (some from Nike no doubt if he goes to a Nike school).
Why would they want to play for Pope? He can't get players like that.
If he comes back to college, if we ponied up for Momcilovic, then we could live with a kid like McBride starting at the 4.

Yeah honestly those are all terrible options. He should just to go BYU and team up with Branch and Wright to do what Dybansta and Wright couldn't do.
Stokes likely is the key for Kentucky to have any chance. A front line of Hawthorne, Moreno, and Stokes has the possibility of being good. The problem are big "if's". Does Hawthorne live up to the hype, does Stokes, does Moreno show significant improvement, Is Potter a serviceable back-up.???

That’s because he knew what he was doing and he retired . That’s different than being fired. He wanted no other choice basically than to hire his son . Like 5 weeks before the season. Pope is not leaving unless he’s fired that’s not happening until next year because he can’t recruit and nobody wants to play for him .
