Look for Terrell Johnson to contribute on defense. Not the breakout player but may fall into the category of Out Of Nowhere Player.

...can a player have a true breakout year if he's never played a down of college football yet? I'm thinking no, but then I've never been accused of being a deep thinker.

But I'll play regardless...

mvp o: Derek Sherrod
mvp d: Pegues
breakout o: Carroll
breakout d: Smith

My boy: Craig Jenkins.. he's a road grader in running situations. And we were his only offer.

not because he's not good, just because if Dixon is having an MVP season someone other than Elliott will get bigger numbers.

Yea, my guess is the people who owned Jasper's ancestors had the last name O'Quinn. Somehow I doubt he traces his roots directly to that part of Europe.

Look at it this way - if Elliott is used like McCluster at OM - then you have both. I am sure you can agree that you could see Green-Ellis as an MVP and McCluster as a breakout player if he stayed healthy.

I think if AD does what he had done in the past, he is the MVP again - and if Elliot is a home-run hitter that gets 10-15 touches a game - he could easily be considered the breakout player.

Why did he have to be "owned?"

Maybe his great great grandmother moved from Sierra Leone to Ireland in 1897 and married some local pub owner with amazing cover skills named Shamus O'Quinn.

Wow, your a regular racist Sherlock Homes.

Explain to me what's racist here. It's a fact that slavery did occur, correct? It's also a fact that a good proportion of slaves took the last names of their owners or previous owners. So, I don't see how speaking about something like that qualifies as racist. If you've ever been to a small town in the South where generations of families have been in the same county, you'll find quite a lot of black and white families with the same surnames for this reason.

I just thought it was funny that dawgstudent made a joke about him being of Irish descent. In most cases where you see an African American with a distinctly European surname like that, it's because 1 of 2 things happened, 1) at some point he had a European ancestor and therefore is at least a percentage mixed or 2) his family took the name of the plantation where they lived.

If you have black friends whose families have lived in the South for generations, it's likely that they are descendants of slaves. The Civil War was less than 150 years ago. That's really not that long ago.

So you would walk up to Jasper and say, " Hey I bet you last name is O'quinn because your relatives where slaves and took the name of their owner."? No you wouldn't. It may or may not be true but you would never say that to his face or a crowd of people for that matter. That's how its racist. Coming from you I'm not surprised this doesn't register.

I wouldn't walk up to anyone and ask them about their ancestry out of the blue. However, if he was a friend of mine and we were having a discussion about family history, then yea I wouldn't have a problem asking where his surname came from, because it's odd.

It's like seeing a white guy with the last name Fernandez. If you're friends with him, you'd probably at some point ask him where the name came from.

The only way someone would be insulted by you asking about their family history would be if they were for some reason ashamed of their family, and you knew they had reason to be ashamed of their family. This is the South, and again, if you've spent a lot of time in small towns, you'd realize that what I mentioned is very common, and it isn't shameful. It's just history.

NO it isn't the same. Not many white people where enslaved by the Fernandez family.

It is shameful. It's shameful all the way around.

Stop trying to argue, you are further cementing your ignorance.
