I'll reserve judgement until I hear the "statement from UK" that was referenced on the pre-game show.

I do not recall one poster stating it as fact or the originator.

Team was playing terrible and the buyout is more bothersome than the coach himself.

A rumor spread across every UK board, multiple rival boards, and the main boards will be discussed here.

The absolute silence from the press and the odd tweets from UK only perpetuated the potential that something had happened.

That rumor didn't change anyone's opinion of the coaching situation if this team doesn't continue to improve.

.

Silence from the media doesn't mean anything. It means it's a stupid rumor. Every media outlet would be fighting to report something like that.[/QUOTE]

Let me define media as our local guys...

MJ, Vaught, JRow, etc. there was definitely a lot of "can't say it's true or not" speak.

Definitely increases the conversation.

So "I don't know" is a tacit confirmation?

I hope everybody on here gets way more of a presumption of innocence than Stoops is getting in personal situations.

What is your agenda?

I never said confirmation, in fact no one ever said confirmation all day long other than those of you that want to shame others tonight because we won a game.

I said conversation. And many people across the country on other social sites were having this conversation not just us.

Apology accepted in advance no need wasting a post.

As I didn't spread the rumors I have nothing to apologize for on that front. But he's a bad football coach and has to be fired.

A lot of people discussed it, no issue there. My only question is for those whose "sources" told them it's true Or a few posters who are "trust worthy" saying it's true. What happened?

I guess you could reply that there is still time; however it didn't look like the coaching staff and players that were against or at odds with Stoops. Which a few posters claimed.

Preemptive acceptance notwithstanding, I just can't resist a response. It's probably the beer talking.

At this point, Stoops can be fired based on the merits of his coaching. However, any credence given to these rumors is, in my highly agenda'd(?) opinion, absurd based on any evidence given thus far.

My issue isn't with discussion of the rumor, but of the seemingly widespread acceptance of them without any evidence. I guess that's my agenda?

It has nothing to do with winning the game. It has something to do with people taking something like that and running with it. And I am.not talking about those who were discussingit to be discussing it. I am talking about those who acted as if it were true and then started blasting the man. If it comes out to be true down the road, then fine.

Maybe I shouldn't say give him an apology. Maybe refrain in from piling on without evidence is better way to put it.

Definitely a few here who claimed rock solid sources. I've asked a couple with no reply yet...

That said you will have to provide a link to anyone here saying it was true other than the new guy who I think is trolling ... @kyrivals

Didn't get enough hits on HOB? So hey let's post another one on the Lair
Yeah because I am the only person to ever post a thread in both places.

Tell me. Did you ever find those articles? Or wait, I thought the players were protesting tonight?

This was something I noticed too. I never claimed to have sources on anything. I figured that if Stoops had been told his fate he would've looked a lot different. If you remember how Billy G looked in his press conference after he was fired he looked like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders. I expected that look on Stoops (if he truly was feeling in over his head) or looking defeated. We saw neither.

Fair enough brother.

Although I think it was more wishful thinking than acceptance.

And even that was a counter to the idiotic buyout versus CMS personally.

I'm just trying to figure out why not crush the rumors at like 10 AM.. UK could easily of had people contact Jones and the media and say everything is false but no........they did it after we won .

I dont know if the rumor is true but ............it could also be boosters spread the rumor just in case they needed it as ammo if Stoops had lost tonight.....maybe???

This thread should be titled. 'Stoops apologist' or 'Number one stoops apologist speaking'

Put a pipe in it stoops still sucks. He's still a terrible HC. And no one knows if the rumors are true or not. I've even heard you say before that you don't always believe Matt jones when I had mentioned something negative he had said about stoops. Now his words are gospel.

I got ya. Again, the discussion wasn't what made me so made earlier. It was those who acted as if it were true and began to pilet on. But I agree, I don't know why they didn't do that. If it is what you are suggesting and the rumor was false but they started it for that reason, the someone needs to pay.

I agree... I'd rather pay the damn 12 million than start bogus rumors just to try and dwindle that down.

Well actually I'd rather win 6 games and keep Stoops............ but you know what I mean

There are a whole lot of people that owe Stoops an apology. Matt Jones said it was false, and many others. If it is in fact false as it appears, there is a whole lot of people who owe an apology.

On top of that, someone needs to go down for slander.

Also, great win tonight!!! Go Big FREAKIN BLUE!!!
Great win? The game was a battle of who's the worst team in the SEC. You're pathetic. The few wins we do get you ruin by pumping insane amounts of sunshine making wins seem a lot more special than they really are. SC is on its way to a 3-9 4-8 season. And we're on the way to a 4-8 5-7 season. Yea it's a great win for a terrible team. For a decent team or a good team it's a game you need to win every time by 2 TD's. Don't mistake yourself. SC is a horrible team. And they made one of the worst hires of all time hiring Muschamp. It was like a panic hire.

We know what you mean. 6 wins is almost out of the question so we need to buy stoops out because he sucks major donkey lugnutz since he's proven to be a garbage HC. He's a terrible head coach. And beating the worst team in the SEC by one score at home doesn't prove otherwise.

This is kind of how I feel as well. I can certainly a see a Jones tweet in future along of the lines of "wow my sources have told me new information has surfaced regarding Stoops." It's certainly possible that the rumors were made up. I also think UK could be wanting to let fans enjoy the win and make the news on Monday. We get very little SEC wins and I'm sure they didn't want "UK beats South Carolina, fires Mark Stoops" to be the headline. My argument for both sides is that it's merely conjecture. Until Mark Stoops gets fired or until something official comes out blasting those who started the rumors, it's not "for sure" one way or the other. I hope they aren't true. It'd be bad for UK. I've said in posts in the past I like Mark Stoops, seems like a nice enough guy to me, granted I've never met him. I don't think he's a great coach, however.

Nope. Please notify me of the sources outside of Matt jones. And those sources can't just be people quoting Matt jones. I've heard it from MJ and no one else thus far. Not only that. You called this a great win. So us beating possibly/probably the worst team in SEC, and probably the worst HC in D1 (right behind stoops), in stoops 4th year while this is Muschamp's first year with a truly terrible roster and young team. If this is what we consider good wins, then this is a direct indication to how much we suck. We beat the worst SEC team, by 7 at home, a team coached by maybe the worst HC in D1 in his first year of rebuilding with a terrible roster and supremely young team, constitutes as a GREAT FREAKING WIN? With our HC who is in 4th season with team full of his players? Sad. If this was a great win then the NMSU game was an equally GREAT FREAKING WIN.

Also what about Stephen Johnson's tweet at midnight last night the day of game day saying 'wow. I can't believe this is happening' then deleting it 2 minutes later? That couldn't possibly be about the rumor could it? Or could it? If the rumors are true then no way people are leaking out information until it is confirmed and he is fired. They're going to keep it close to the vest, Tell everyone it's untrue, and if/when confirmed they'll report it once he's fired. And Johnson's tweet that was quickly deleted was a little weird as far as timing goes.

Kyle Tucker tweeted the same post-game, FWIW.

Your opinion seems to be that Stoops is a bad coach, and I can't disagree. But that's totally different from what's being thrown around about him personally.

I really like the way the team came together through all the adversity today.. The team played good defense and I think the offense was okay.... should of not been so conservative and we might of blown them out....

A step in the right direction ......

I still dont think we'll win 6 because god hates us....lol but tonight gave me a glimmer of hope

It seems the defense has looked much better since Stools "took over". Not world beaters, but definitely has changed the direction it was going.

Did we switch to a 1 gap defensive front tonight? Just seemed like they were picking one spot and attacking more tonight than they were previously with the 2 gap.

Only way is up when you your defense is at the bottom. Only good thing Vandy, Mizzo and even UGA looks shaky this year.
That USM loss really hurt.

It did seem that way from my seats. Granted I am in upper deck, but did seem to be.
