Folks, here in Year 4 we could have had a good defense in the SEC.

2 Things:

1. Obviously, Stoops should have controlled defense from day one. Eliot is way out of his league and has no passion for the job whenever I see him interviewed.

2. Hatcher, Tubman, and Meant would have seriously beefed up this Defense. I believe it would have been much better.

Most of us were afraid we had no depth on the D-Line and LB spots before the season started. It's obviously true.

I'm really excited about some of our young players: Ware, Allen, Jones, Walker, Baity, Westry, Middleton, Pringle, etc.

newsflash, Stoops has been in charge of the defense basically all year. I know that factually, hell they even talked about how Stoops has been in control of the D the whole year on KSR. It's amazing what playing the worst offense in the SEC and one of the worst in the country can do to make you look good. In all honesty we only beat USCjr because they do as all teams do against us and quit just running the ball. If you just run the ball on us you will win against UK

Lol if you think he is really just now taking over the defense you're clueless.... a defensive head coach does not give up the reigns just like offensive head coaches don't. They might not call the play in but I'd be damned if they don't have the final say on everything that gets put on the field. That's what those fancy headsets are for. You think they are calling their mothers with those??

Unfortunately for us fans, it appears Eliot and Stoops are connected at the waist. The Eliot experiment is over.. either fire or demote him. Bring in someone with a functional brain to train these studs on Defense. The corners we have are special this year and should have help with QB pressures more often than not. Other good players who are on the defense.. this isn't a talent issue it is a coaching issue.

Would we have been better without the loss of players mentioned?... I think yes.
But the defense has never looked all that great and Hatcher wasn't the difference maker I thought he'd be.... So for depth sake those guys would have been great to have if no other reason....
I don't know what Stoops will do with Eliot? Have been less than impressed with our defense since Stoops has been here... Seems all the drama revolves around the offense...
Did they look better with USC? Yes they did.
Bama not going to be a good follow-up game coming off our 1st win... Cats better load up for elephant on this trip south because I don't think Saban has any respect for our football program... Be interesting to see how they show.........
