Stoops to take more of a role on defense

He says that before a winnable game so he looks like the Savior when we win.
And he didn't have the intelligence to do this while USM scored 50,000 straight points on us? Color me unimpressed.
Wasn't there a point last season where he had taken a bigger role in the defense as well?
Keep your eyes on the bye week after Vandy. Maybe Stoops will cut Eliot loose after that. The bye week would be an opportune time to do so IMO.
I don't think so. I know he took more of a role on the offense towards the end of the season, but I don't think he did on defense.
Yup. Most firings happen during bye weeks. Think its safe to say Eliots job is hanging by a thread right now.
Unless he changes into a 4-3 defense, it won't matter what he does.
Well, maybe Elliot calls the play by play alignments, stunts, etc. but I simply cannot imagine that Stoops was "not involved" in the structure and style of the defense. Defensively, Stoops and Elliot are joined at the hip. JMO

Anyone with half a brain knows he's actually been taking a huge role in it from the get go.
Listening to him tonight he sounded like the coach he appears to be on the sidelines - one that is way out of his league.
The ONLY reason Elliot not gone is because Stoops is the DC and he can't fire himself!

At the end of the year is my guess. If he cuts him loose around the bye, who will he blame the piss poor D the second half of the season on?
Look for him to move DJ to the DL after the year and get rid of Brumbaugh.
He's not going to fire him in the middle of the year. That's just stupid if you think that. This happens in football all the time. You get demoted, but still coach your position.
