The next step is nearly impossible. It's not a failure to be having what we think of as a bad year and go 8 and 4.
8-4 in this era of college football isn't the flex we think it is because we can schedule 3 wins, 4 max. Enough to beat Vandy, Mizzou in SEC, and UL and get a participation trophy bowl. Gotta demand more, and hire better. Jump hard on NIL

Next step is to win the SEC. The conference wins are against teams with a combined losing record
A win against Georgia would go a long way to build morale in a season where everyone is piling on the offense.

You and I and my son will be dead and we still probably won't have won the modern sec.

Stoops as taken this team as far as it's going to go. If we were in a different conference it would be different, In the SEC an eight nine win season is outstanding. Considering our long painful history in football, we need to be happy with it.

8-4 is not how you take the next step.
Yeah, the next step is winning the division where the current #1 and #2 teams in the entire COUNTRY are battling it out to do just that.

Let’s not pretend this “next step” is one more baby step in a long line of them. It’s the hardest step to take in football. One of the four best teams in the country is going to walk away short from winning just our DIVISION today. If we were in the ACC the next step would be much more manageable.

the next step won’t be taken until we start beating Tennessee and Georgia:

With the current NIL situation that will never happen. Two years ago we went into Knoxville and beat them 34-7. We may never beat them again for years. They signed the number 1 or 2 rated QB in the nation after guaranteeing him 8 million dollars in NIL money. He was previously committed to Southern Cal

The next step isn't winning the sec.

The next step is not shitting the bed and losing games we shouldn't lose. South Carolina..and even Ole miss should never have been losses. We can dream about the other stuff if that ever happens.

It's a predicament. Are we happy with having hope but probably be let down ...or do we gamble

Anyone using "kentucky" as an excuse/reason isn't with the times.. we are one of (soon to be) 16 teams that are in the best conference that every kid in tbe country wants to play in. One that can pay kids as much money as anyone ..

..kentucky .and our past..isn't an excuse anymore.
