Stop with the firing of Stoops, it makes you look stupid

Stoops doesn't deserve to be fired, but UK's inability to do really simple things like get a kick off on time, get 11 guys out for a PR, get a punt off on time, etc. is starting to really frustrate even people like me (who totally support him).

I can deal with losing. I understand the enormity of getting UK football up to SEC speed. But calling timeout before a punt AND taking a delay of game before a field goal IN THE SAME GAME? Most teams won't make EITHER of those errors all season. UK made them both in about 45 minutes.

GBB!!!

100% spot on, and this should be the attitude of all reasonable UK fans (i.e. not the eternal pessimists and not the eternal sunshine pumpers).

Please, you show your lack of knowledge on the sport. Learn something then come back

It doesn't show a lack of knowledge on the sport at all. It shows a lack of knowledge of how contracts can screw the average fan because Stoops contract pretty much has his *** protected. But Stoops is the one with the lack of knowledge. It's not the pissed off fans. He's awful and getting worse instead of better.

Erik, what makes you think any of these coaching gaffs is going to change? Do you think UK will ever get to a point where they can challenge for the East under Stoops?

For the first time since Stoops got here, I am really concerned that Stoops may not be the man for the job. No coach at this level should be making the same mistakes over and over, game after game.

I will still wait until the end of next year to make any sort of real judgement as to where he should stay or not. It won't matter a hill of beans to anyone, but it will help me make the decision about supporting them or not.

Exactly. Plenty of room for criticism. But to think we could hire a better coach right now is ridiculous.

We have to stick it out. We cannot go firing a coach and his staff after 3 years. I think we all an inflated opinion of where we were at. We are building the facilities to hopefully pull in the guys we need to take it to the next level. I am as bad as the next guy however, I feel like it would set this program back further if we fire Stoops. He knows what he's doing. We just need everybody on the same page. Lot of immaturity on this team in alot of ways. Guy will either grow up or go away/

I think, given time, Stoops can become a good HC. Right now, he is not. I cannot imagine he will not get at least two more years at UK.

Stoops has used up all his political capital this season. Local media has turned against him. His days are numbered unless things improve fast.

The last few week have been frustrating. This staff is recruiting great (for UK), I believe they need to pay attention to little details. They do not seem to be prepared all the time. They take way too many risk that outweigh the reward. So, saying all that, I believe they can learn from this. I believe there needs to be some changes made in the staff. I believe they need someone working with the special teams full time. Oh my, there is still a long way to go! I still believe Stoops can do it, he needs to keep this recruiting class together

Serious question. Do you know what goes into a game plan and all the nuances of it? Do you really think you or anyone on this site knows more about that stuff and football than Stoops? Do really think that Stoops doesn't know football?

Setting aside your illogical appeal to authority, Stoops' football knowledge isn't in question here. His decision making ability and his management skills are.

Those who always have insults or smart *** remarks when discussing issues, typically don't have much knowledge of the situation. In the case you as the poster, the assumption definitely holds true.

You're welcome to explain how I insulted you. Paranoid much? If you don't like your mistakes pointed out, stop making them. Either way, stop whining.

It isn't just me. You do this with everyone you disagree with. Not mature enough to debate and issue without being a smart ***. And I am not paranoid at all. An internet tough guy doesn't worry me a bit. It is just funny that you keep posting and proving me to be correct. And I haven't made mistakes. Your opinion doesn't make something fact and everyone else's a mistake. You aren't that important.

You just insulted champcat11 by telling him he knew nothing about football, so you're a hypocrite. And now you're butthurt. Get over yourself. Stop taking things personally.

Serious answer. I'll answer all of your questions one at a time. #1) I know a little about what goes into a game plan but not nearly enough to coach a major college football team. That has absolutely nothing to do with my post. #2 Again, I don't know if anyone on this board knows more about that stuff but I'm not a candidate to coach a college football team and that also has absolutely nothing to do with my post. #3 Personally I think Coach Stoops knows a lot about football. He and his whole damn family have been around football all of their lives. That doesn't mean he can coach because it's obvious that he sucks at it. FYI- great jockeys don't make good horse trainers and good athletes don't usually make great coaches so knowing about football doesn't necessarily make you a good coach. And for the third time, that has nothing to do with my post. I said he somehow has a contract that would put him in Donald Trumps' income bracket if UK tried to get rid of him anytime in the near future. That means we're stuck with him. Long story short- UK really needs to find a way to be competitive in football and the fans want it and deserve it. But we're once again years away from that possibility because Stoops is locked in as our coach whether he ever wins another game or not. Sorry if that sounds rude but that's how I feel.

Show me where I said he knew nothing about football. I never said that at all!! You telling me to get over myself is laughable. Mr. I am smarter than everyone else. I haven't taken one thing personally. Just pointing out the obvious.

You attacked his football knowledge, which is an appeal to authority. That's a mistake. Just pointing out the obvious.

If you don't like my posts, don't read 'em. But I'm well within the rules of this forum, so I guess you're out of luck otherwise.

Why do you resort to the 'internet tough guy' thing and then proceed to give the guy a ration of sh*t ? You're the one acting important. Take a minute to look up the definition of message board.

This was your quote and the reason I asked the question. You are not being rude at all and I appreciate a good debatable response. I was not trying to insult you at all. What I am saying, is that based on the comment you posted, it seemed that you were saying that he had a lack of knowledge when it came to being a football coach. I think his previous stops has proven he does. But I think this jobs has proven to him that he has some things to learn as a head coach. Very different than saying he can't coach or isn't knowldegeable.

No, not really that different. Having things to learn means he doesn't know them yet; thus, lacking knowledge. And all you have to do is look back at his bonehead decisions to see that he can't coach.

I guess I should have said football 'coaching' knowledge. No big deal. Looks like you think he'll do well and I don't. We can just agree to disagree.
