I am in the process of ditching Directv unless they decide to lower my bill really soon. I apologize in advance if this subject has already been discussed (I'm sure it has) but what do you all recommend for streaming services? I have looked at youtube.tv it seems decent. Anyways appreciate any and all tips/suggestions! Thanks!

I have had YouTube TV, Sling, DirectTVnow and Hulu and I like YouTube TV the best.
Youtubetv is really good. A little more expensive ($50 a month I think). they've added a few channels, but I remember when I got it (about a year and a half ago), there were 66 channels and 22 of them were sports related.
I'm not crazy about the interface. Or maybe that's just a Roku thing. Example, the channels aren't numbered, so you have to scroll through the list to get to what you want.....

Their DVR feature is what I love. If a game goes past the alloted time it will still record it all. Oh and it has unlimited DVR space.
yep - although anything recorded goes away after 9 months. Which is a minor thing. I used to keep games recorded for years, watch them from time to time. but nowadays you can find virtually any old game on youtube, so it's no big deal.
yep. I get both HBO and Showtime through Amazon Prime. I can't recall exactly why we did it that way, but you can....
I think most of them have terrible interfaces. I thought SlingTV had the best interface but not much else besides price made it worth getting. I think YouTube TV has the best DVR and might have more streams allowed at one time but not sure on that.
I had been using Hulu Live TV and it worked well. It also came with the regular Hulu service. I canceled it though with no sports to watch. Right now I get Netflix for free through TMobile and I have the $13 Hulu plan that comes with ESPN+ and Disney+.
Good enough for now to go with all of the random free content you can get on Roku. You can also purchase premium channels through Roku.

I assume you mean streaming cable TV, so YouTube TV is probably your best option. No one can top it’s DVR platform from what I’ve seen.
However, go to suppose.tv and select which channels you want and it will tell you which service is best. From there you can shop around based on features.

Unless you are a mid major or are Kansas and the Big 12. I wish all of the ESPN channels could be bought like ESPN+ and Disney+. I'd pay around $20-$25 a month to get ESPN, 2, NEWS, and SEC Network. I can do fine without the rest of the cable channels.
I think I'm leaning YouTube tv. If it's horrible I'll switch back to directv or try dish.
I had issues with Sling buffering and being a minute behind on sports - texting friends during games was bad. I switched to Hulu Live - no buffering.
I'm going to look at options because Hulu Live seems to be the most expensive. YouTube is supposed to cost less and have the same variety.

You can use your phone as a remote. We use an old iPad. I can swipe on the app quicker than I can click down on the Roku remote.

Maybe its just me but this stream lags a lot on my end. Might just be my internet causing it but not sure.
I push 250 mbs down so I do have good internet. I find it works best in Mozilla Firefox and absolutely sucks dick on Safari or internet explorer.
Heres the real Life Pro Tip for you poor bastards.
1. Find someone you trust who has AT&T Uverse, preferably with upgrades like HBO, SECNetwork, etc
2. Offer said person 50-100$ for their login and password. Also if you have a service Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Espn+ they don't have doesn't hurt to offer up your login.
3. Buy a fire stick. Download At&t Uverse app.
4. Free TV for a one time easy payment. Also you can use their login on Add ons websites such as HBO hence why you want them.
Caveat: These streaming services won't be good no matter paid or unpaid if your internet sucks. So you need to be pushing minimum 10 mbs down.
Source: Use my moms AT&T login. Paid a buddy 100$ for his Sunday ticket streaming service a few years back and he never changed the password. Traded Netflix for Hulu and HBOgo. I just give out ESPN+ to anyone who asks.
You'd think ppl would tell you to **** off, but if you have a friendship/relationship with this person you just paid their cable bill for the month and its 100$ more dollars. Mutual beneficial trade for both parties goes a long way in making a deal.

Looks like I was wise to stick with ATT TV Now when they raised my price to $65. I considered switching to YTTV but I was losing a lot of channels and HBO and only saving $10 or $15 a month.
Which inevitably means ATT TV Now will raises prices again or go away completely. It was only 3 years ago I was paying $35 for the same package.

I guess they want people to just completely drop all cable/satellite/streaming tv services. They don't go to alternatives to pay $65 a month. Pretty soon a lot of people won't watch anything but antenna tv and netflix.
While the price increase is unfortunate it’s still superior to the competition. At least where I live that’s the case.
If it wasn’t for live sports I’d never have any live TV service. I rarely watch anything live outside of sports. At least with YouTube TV I can cancel it whenever I want then bring it back when live sports resume end of the month.
If ESPN would offer a streaming sports package (not that garbage ESPN+) for all of their channels for like $20, you would have to think a lot of tv providers would go under. Seems like a lot of networks are doing it but ESPN refuses.
Every single league, conference, and organization they have a contract with would likely have to have the contract renogotiated. I don’t even want to begin to imagine the nightmare that would be to undertake.
Well Disney already has their own streaming service. It shouldn't be to hard to keep them separate or offer a bundle if you want both. I can't imagine that the ESPN demographic would be the same as the Disney one. Meaning most sports fans aren't going to want Disney unless they are married and have to get it for their family.
