....students leaving the game early is not a problem at Davis Wade Stadium. Hummm... anyone got a pic of the student section, and most of the rest of the stadium after half time of the Bowling Green game?

To be completely fair when has the 2nd half of the homecoming game ever been full? People leave every year as soon as the queen is presented.

Is anyone else over the burrito craze now?

I can't get my innards of the burrito distributed well enough to get a bite of all delicious items.

It's why i go burrito bowl, now.

Frankly, I don't think that students leaving early is a problem either. The problem is the fact they currently have what most would consider premium seats. When the majority of their seating gets moved over to the North end zone next year, I won't really give a damn one way or another as to whether they stay 5 minutes or the entire game.

Having them in the end zone would make a huge difference late in the game or in ot if there is no one there. Home teams try to play on the end of the field by the students in ot for noise factor. With one end empty and the other having no seats we lose that advantage.

here is a photo.. around 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

this is embarrassing.. a whole quarter and a half to go. and you can see, it's the student section, not the entire stadium.

Really? People go to college football games to see the homecoming queen crowned? That's weaker than leaving due to suckage.

Agreed and I know that Bowling Green can be used as an argument against this, but I guess my assumption would be that the students would still be there if a game came down to a last second field goal against a good team. Again, that didn't happen against BG but by and large, I think it would be true

And that's not entirely the student section. Again, people go to homecoming for the pageantry. No one in my entire family went to MSU but they always came to visit to see the court and all that dumb shiz for THIS game. There's nothing to do in Starkville.................... except during homecoming weekend. So I don't think everyone clearing out for a crap game right after the halftime homecoming festivities is a HUGE deal, but the other games are.

This happens every year for homecoming. It's just getting a lot of attention this year because of everything else. It's part of the double edge of the sword that is playing a crap team for homecoming. You win, but no one stays. If we scheduled a team like Washington State or a middle of the road BCS member I think a lot more people would consider staying. There would still be a lot of people who left... because it's homecoming.

I'm a sports fan so I get it, but a lot of you are acting like the only thing that matters in college is football. To be honest some of the best nights of college for me were the parties following a football game, and I'm sure if some of you are honest you'll agree.

Not defending the students leaving. Just playing devils advocate on the last part.

I'm not saying I never left early, I did. I'm not sure of anyone who didn't under Croom when it was apparent we weren't coming back from some of the beat downs we took. But I sure didn't leave close games, homecoming or not. Hell, people should just be happy we're winning our homecoming games now.

And I don't know any males who went for the pagentry. That was time to piss and refill drinks.

I dont blame our students for leaving at halftime

Our team seems to also take the second half off as well (since the Egg Bowl last year). You cant really blame the students for not wanting to watch us **** the bed every game in the 2nd half . I might consider leaving too if things don't get better with our adjustments and effort after halftime .

Alabama is getting ready to do something about their students leaving early. They're going to look at the game video, and if there were student organizations who had a reserved block of seats, and they left early, they'll no longer be able to reserve. Article was on al.com this morning.

Our problem probably is worse than theirs regardless of what Stricklin says, or maybe it's just more apparent since our sideline student section has such good seats. Won't be that way next year.

To be completely fair when has the 2nd half of the homecoming game ever been full? People leave every year as soon as the queen is presented.

Well, one was when our homecoming game was with LSU (the one where the LSU punter practiced on the field during the halftime show). People stayed for that game, including the students.

And I couldn't care less who the homecoming queen is. I always go inside club level at halftime, regardless of who's playing or whether it's homecoming or not. And so do many others. The only way I'd care is if the queen or a member of her court was my daughter or granddaughter ... then I'd stay and watch.
