“During the recruitment of a football prospective student-athlete, Mississippi State was approached with an offer to provide an extra benefit. This offer was refused.

“MSU alerted the Southeastern Conference about the offer. MSU did not have any specific incriminating information about any other school, and thus could not provide any.

“As Commissioner Slive mentioned today, the SEC is not an investigative body. MSU has cooperated fully and completely with the NCAA from the time it began asking for our assistance, and looks forward to providing any and all help in this ongoing investigation.”

He basically just said 'why provide the SEC with evidence if they can't/won't do anything with it, it's your job commish to report our statements to the NCAA 17head'.

an offer to provide an extra benefit not a request for an extra benefit? this sounds like it implicates the boosters more than Cecil.

Rogers and Bell were approached with a request for an extra benefit... Mississippi State was approached with an offer to provide that extra benefit, which we declined.

Let me say that again, we declined to rent the mule.

clearly NCAA vs the SEC office in Birmingham. Like someone posted earlier it is a shame when the NCAA is our friend instead of the conference office. Slive should go down.

Dear Slive:

Since Mississippi State was approached with an offer to provide an extra benefit to a recruit & the offer was refused, please get off you *** & do something about it.

Furthermore, the SEC is not an investigative body, which means MSU has 0 responsibilty to pursue this mess outside filing the proper complaints with the proper authorities.

Now please stop your politicking, Mr. Silve, & find out what the 17 is going on @ Auburn.

Signed,

Strickland @ Miss. State
