Be pissed about auburn... sure... I was majorly pissed after that game. However, LSU was clearly better than us. They were far deeper and more talented. Their Defense is sick and they were 3 deep on their D-line. Their O-line could stand in the interstate and block 18 wheelers from hitting Jarrett Lee. For the love of god, be pissed about Auburn because we threw that game away, but we got outplayed tonight. I wanted the win just like everyone else, but lets settle down in reality and think SOMEWHAT objectively for two seconds...

we were down 2 possessions. Before that, he was trying everything he could to get something going. We hadn't done anything on offense all night and he put it Russell in a key drive TRYING to get something going. He PROBABLY didn't want to get anyone hurt at the end of the game because 2 more offensive lineman dropped tonight. Had we not been down 3 offensive lineman, I'd almost bet he at least tries something. There is no other reason that makes sense that he would not call a timeout in the final minute.

I'm trying to make sense of the fact that he didn't call a timeout on that final drive, but there had to be some reason besides the fact he was "throwing in the towel."

We've got a long week to heal. They're football players, if they didn't want him to call timeouts at the end of that game, we're in alot of trouble.

This sends a REALLY bad message to our team.

someone else getting hurt? That's not *****... that's being smart. We had 2 more O-linemen go out of the game in the first half. Sure, let's run another 15 plays and get someone hurt in a game we are realistically out of since we are down two possessions with a minute and a half to go.

We just have a different philosophy on this. I can agree to disagree. My problem is it sends an awful message to the team.

to me. Who knows what he was thinking about. I know the most coaches I know (granted, they are high school and Jr. High coaches) would much rather run out the clock in a game they are out of than keep playing and get someone hurt. Maybe that was Mullen's reason. Maybe not. That reason makes most sense to me.

it's not strike one. strike one is losing to maine. not LSU who happens to be one of the top teams in the country. I know you are trying to act all tough as if you can wield some influence in this situation but you cant and no one cares what you think or what your personal strike count is. Dan Mullen will be the coach at MSU for a long time and the result of last nights game will have no bearing on his tenure.<div>
</div><div>so dont come on here and act as if mullen is now on performance probationary period and he better get his **** in gear or else. shut the 17 up.</div>

It's time for an HD6 style board enema. The morons came out last night.

But I did lose a bit of respect for Mullen last night. Not because he lost, I expected that; but because he gave up.

nut the 17 up and play ball.thisis the exact type of attitude/mindset/culture that needs to be changed for State fans. had LSU(or anyone else in the SEC)been down by two scores with 1:30to go and the ball at half field,do you think they would have done the same thing? hell 17'ing no. this program isn't going to take the next stepuntil westart willing ourselves to winning ballgames.last night's playcalling and effortat the end of the 4th were pathetic.

If you cant tell that Dan is lost and confused in crunch time situations on the sideline then you are blind and in denial. He is a great offensive minded coach. But he's obviously still growing into the head coaching role. I hope that means he will grow out of his confusion. What our program needs is stability and a few seasons of bowl games. Dan gives us that. I dont know if he'll ever provide much more.
