My dollars won't go to fund their pathetic athletic program. If Byrne is not the one responsible, he should send out a notice stating who is responsible. Until then, this his a big black smear on his short tenure. If you haven't lived thru the USM sh_t of the past then don't bother commenting.

This isn't 10 years ago and it's time to move one. Do not compare LT to Byrne.....EVER. This guy has done more for our Athletic program in a short period of time than LT ever did. Hell...he's done more for our entire University. People are tired of the negativity! We are 2 and 1 coming off a road win against an SEC opponent and this guy just gives Byrne "a strike" for scheduling a good opponent. I say to this guy "piss off".

Opinions don't get deleted unless they're not about sports.

Next time, just ahead and tell him to piss off. We actually allow that. If you just don't want to see a post that is opposition to the way you think, you know where to go.

you fund all these other ****** schools and then turn around and say you won't fund an in state school. I don't disagree with argument about not wanting to play Southern but get a grip man, support your own damn school. The ONLY reason we are playing Southern is for money. It brings more people to the stadium than does a UAB or Jacksonville State. You may hate Byrne for scheduling this but you will be licking his balls when we horse shoe the stadium.

If so, will we also hear an announcement requiring OM to play USM? Or is this typical Mississippi politics?

if there was someone in Jackson pushing this. But, I have never heard that before. Strictly a grab a guess out of thin air thing as far as I am concerned. </p>

asking for. I've heard this beat to death since we last played. Granted for the past 8 years we would have struggled with them. With a new coach, improving talent, and playing better competition, why not? If you beg for something long enough don't ***** when you get it. If this happens in say two years we will be a much better football team unless Mullen melts down. So, I say why not? If we are much improved and they are what they are even with Fedora, so what? It won't hurt our schedule strength wise any more than playing JSU. Besides, it will be interesting to hear their folks excuse why they lost by playing "an SEC team" and create a laundry list of missed penalties and out-sized players...........

time to head back to the pasture, buddy. Blindly following someone for good deeds done in the past is what got us where we are in our Athletic Department. I like Byrne as much as anybody else but that doesn't change the fact that this isn't a good move for our football program.

I couldn't agree more. I get my tickets through my father so my Bulldog Club donation is only done to support the program. Call me a sissy or bad for MSU or whatever you want but the second that press conference ends I call and cancel my pledge. The only thing these idiots understand is money so it's the only vote I have. I'll pick back up when the series is over assuming they don't renew it.

because that's how much it will take to offset the additional revenue a sold out game against USM will generate over a 45,000 attendance game against somebody like Troy St.

How else do I show the Athletic Department I don't like something? College Sports are all about money, that is how we vote so that is how we show we are dissatisfied with something. Oh, and I never said I was canceling my season tickets, I get those with my father and it is on his priority so I'll continue to sit on the 50 yard line under the overhang thank you very much. My pledge is strictly for the program, not for priority, so the only effect it will have on me is I will have more pocket change.

I think you will be surprised how many people show their displeasure with their pledge.

I ain't never scared. I will however object USM getting the better end of the deal financially. I'll wait for the terms of the contract to be announced before opining on that topic.

You are canceling your Bulldog Club membership and will stop donating money until the series is over? Do you not realize just how stupid you sound?

Rick Cleveland. Seems like every other article he's written since 1990 has been on this topic and trying to make it happen.

You know what else the AD notices besides actual dollars? Empty seats. If you really had a sack, you'd stop going to the games to show your protest. But I imagine you're ****** is too huge to do that.

No, it's not worth $500K either.
The price of legitimizing USM is higher than you think.

Congrats Ole Miss on your top 5 ranking and your intelligent athletic department!
