Thank God a down year for Plainfield Football.Talk of going out on strike possibly next week end.Would be after Plainfield North football playoff game.Plainfield could also win this week and get in and it affect them too
Never understood a strike at this time of year. Either start the school year with a contract in place, or don't start the school year.
Taxes have absolutely skyrocketed in Plainfield the last ten years despite home prices dropping. Are the teachers aware of this?
Plainfield teachers haven't had a pay raise in 5 yearsThe teachers took pay freezes multiple times over the years, so yes.

Home prices have nothing to do with property taxes going up. All based on how much the people you elected want to get to fund the schools.Taxes have absolutely skyrocketed in Plainfield the last ten years despite home prices dropping. Are the teachers aware of this?
Both my parents work in Plainfield schools so I recuse myself.I'd be interested in Cross Bones' opinion!

The county has been assessing homes in my neighborhood at 25% above their actual selling price. Most of the taxes go to the school district, so somebody is getting an unfair amount.Home prices have nothing to do with property taxes going up. Good enough. Good luck tonight. Both my parents work in Plainfield schools so I recuse myself.
Tentative agreement does not mean anything. It means the negotiation teams agreed to a proposal.Looks like the strike is averted. Official word to come early next week.
My property taxes have not been skyrocketing. Not sure about no raises in five years, but that sounds questionable as well.
I think they've been without contract for 52014-15
2015-16
2016-17
Those 3 contracts are identical for most steps, last step for each level of education increases by a small amount

Word from this I know who work in 202 is the tentative agreement has no chance of passing the vote...just a small number of people.
Teacher are often the whipping boys, often doing the jobs of the parents at not great pay, but then the parents are the first to gripe
The only part to disagree with is maybe the pay part.I totally disagree with this statement.

I’m wondering if you have ever tried to sell a house?Home prices have nothing to do with property taxes going up.
True in many schools, not so true in some others. There are very few teachers that do the job of parents.

The school I know the kids have less parental involvement than most in the state. Teachers are not replacing parents. It sounds good but it really isn't happening. I would say 10 to 20 percent of teachers may go the extra mile and provide guidance in a real bad situation however, the rest just hide behind the statistics. I don't really get into what their pay should be but pretending like every teacher in every building is going the extra mile and then some is no where close to accurate.
Unfortunately people only view it as one or the other. Either you are a very concerned teacher or you do absolutely nothing. Most are in the middle which is provide a solid education to those willing to learn.
No expense was spared on the Planfield North grounds I saw during a recent game visit. The stadium was top-shelf including a nice video board built into the scoreboard and sprawling visitors bleachers. The parking lots surrounding the building could have landed a jumbo jet, too. Actually it might be easier to reach PFN by air than car next time.
