Strong rumor on both MSU sites that the Rebels committed violations with MC duo.

Both sites are also saying that a lot of information will surely come out about this before too long. Supposedly, a UM booster drove Singleton and his teammate, Price to Troy for a camp tean they were supposed to go to MSU for Big Dawg. They got "lost" because the booster was told to take them to Oxford instead. If the booster does not have any ties to the two players, Ole Miss is in serious trouble and must stop recruiting the two players all together. This rumor has a lot of legs and doesn't seem to be your eggbowl.com/gene's page free board type of rumor. Multiple people know exactly who this person is and their connection with Ole Miss.

Memo to Ole Miss: Croom and Templeton ain't running this ship anymore.

I just have a hard time believing they would be dumb enough to let this"booster" drive recruits on their trip.

Also, his teammate was wanting to work out and try to get an MSU offer. Looks like he got screwed too. The Rebs might have gotten sloppy with this one. Brassell also said 48 hours before Big Dawg that he was coming to MSU. South Panola brought a lot of players, not Brassell.

Edited to add: Yancy even said that MSU had made big strides in Brassell and Singleton and were a factor. If Singleton wasn't a possible MSU option, why would they go to these lengths. Sounds like Musgrove and Norwood.

...oh wait.. He wasn't a booster. Just a fan, but not technically a booster.

Bet'cha my last dollar that's how this will play out too. No way they'll stop recruiting the MC guys.

Goldie did lose his eligibility over that issue. It was just the final 6 games or so of his career. I wish they had taken his eligibility before the 2002 Arkansas game though. We might have won that game if not for him. Talk about an overrated Juco recruit.

Can't speak to the MC deal, but the rumors are fun. I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg of the stuff that's going to be thrown back and forth this year in recruiting. Like I said, I expect it to get ugly in state with all the players these staffs are both going after.

I expect Mike Slive to step in and set that **** straight. He knows that if one school goes on probation, there'll be a dominoeffect. And one thing he's very serious about, and has been very successful in doing, is being sure that **** doesn't happen again. If one of us is going too far, he'll put a stop to it. But he's not going to let either of us turn the other in for routine cheating.

Yep, I have an obnoxious in-law UM fan that has already told me twice thatthe Rebs have State on tape giving a recruit money, and they are waiting until right before Febraury to "drop the hammer" and "blow the doors off" of the recruiting scene.Hilarious. Who are these undercover informants presentto tape during these events?

that somebody got to those two and convinced them not to go to Starkville. Not necessarily buying the "got lost on the way from Troy to Starkville" story though.

there won't be a repeat of the end of Jackie's tenure- all this will get nipped much earlier

Mississippi won't be turning us into the NCAA and vice-versa

Stuff goes on. It goes on on both sides. If one of us is turned in by the other and it leads to something, you're only doing harm to yourself, because it'll come back on you in the not too distant future.

See Auburn and Bama for examples. They are more of a hindrance to each other than anything else, because they're always looking to get each other in trouble.

Take our mid-90s probation. I'd say it paid off for you in turning us in, as the classes that it affected most were the 95 and 96 recruiting classes, classes that were 4th year players in 1998 and 1999. However, because we were turned in (and we deserved it), our fans spent time trying to bring you down for revenge. They eventually got you, brought down Sherrill, which led to LT taking Croom hoping to lighten the NCAA punishment, which led to a string of one winning season in 9. You could've come out of that deal in better shape sooner, but the point still stands. You had a short term payoff in catching us cheating (again, we deserved it), but it's always going to have a retaliation, and you can bet you're doing enough wrong to get slapped with something if someone is looking hard enough.

The big stuff, yea that needs to be revealed, but Slive has it right in trying to keep SEC programs from bringing each other down. The end result has been 4 straight BCS titles with programs finally all getting back to full strength and off NCAA sanctions.

As far as I know Arrington has never been quoted saying he was going to be in Oxford one weekend and two days later didn't show up. I think I read on BDJ that Singleton texted Paul the day of the camp saying he is on his way to Starkville, then he doesn't show.
Is this any different that Arrington never visiting OM?
I don't buy into all the conspiracy theories, but to answer your question yes it is different from Arrington never visiting OM.

that the rebs are lining up three wr's (brassell, singleton, and Moncrief) that seem to have the same skill set and will most likely all be slot recievers. It just seems strange that all three would want to sign with the same school in the same class and to play in that offense with a questionable QB situation. And save me the spin about back to back cotton bowl victories and IPFs. Any wr that saw last years cotton bowl wouldn't get all wet over the idea of playing for the rebs.

I'm pretty sure by now they are just keeping private investigators on retainer for the purpose of digging up dirt on MSU football recruiting.
