wasn't he a D coordinator at TAMU. He also spoke incessantly about Jimmy Johnson and Miami.

I'm guessing you weren't alive or old enough to read the paper at the time, but it was big news. Seems like he came out a year or two after Favre, and was just one of a long line of (what we thought were) big-time players that wanted no part of MS schools in that era.

he could be starting QB in the Sunshine State.
Women, sun, women, starting FL QB, women,sun.......not a hard choice!
Also he could take over for another MS boy that had gotten too much of the above!

to play for Rockey Felker at MSU, Billy Brewer at UM, or an independent USM team that was on the verge of being relegated to I-AA for not meeting the I-A attendence requirements. Not exactly a tough decision for him to make.

maybe just an assistant, or just got a job on the coast, not sure as you can tell. Pascagoula ran the same type of Spurrier "fun-n-gun" offense. His family are all OM people, but he chose FL.

Matthews had a nice place on the end of the bench, until Spurrier was hired in 1990. Spurrier's Fun n Gun saved Matthews' college career and helped him make a good little career in the pros.

They beat Greenwood for the 5A state title. I don't think either school has been worth a **** since then.
