If it makes anyone feel better, I'm just letting you all know Sugarland was not the top pick for the concert for this years SBW. I have a lab with someone that is a member of Music Makers at State, which is a group that gets musicians and acts to come play at State, and they played a role in getting Sugarland. I was told that Sugarland was actually around the 8th choice on the list of acts they wanted to get, and they went with Sugarland because they couldn't get their top choices. It was Sugarland or some R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap crap groups, so they went with Sugarland because it would probably satisfy anddraw more people due to the popularity of Country music around State. I was also told of a rumor that they are trying to book Journey sometime in the future to play at the Hump. I don't know if that will happen or not, butit would be so awesome if it did. They should have tried to get Journey for this year's SBW, I bet that would have gotten way more people.Journey kicks ***, even with the newsinger, hecan hit everything just the same as the original.

If you get Kanye, then all of the gun-toting gangstas with pants sagging will be happy, but some folks will be pissed. If you get Widespread Panic, then all of the dope-smoking potheads will be happy, but some folks will be pissed. You will never make everyone happy.

I can not think of one single band that would have this board in total agreement, much less the entire fanbase.

if you're going to have a concert tied in with the spring game, Sugarland is probably one of the best reasonably affordable groups you could get for our fanbase. I'm on record many times that I don't think the concert is a good idea, but if you're going to have a concert I'm completely on board with Sugarland being the band.</p>

I'll certainly be there. The new singer is actually better than the original guy, I think. They're probably my all-time favorite group.<div>
</div><div>FWIW, Nebraska was going to have Amanda Lambert for their Spring game (they must like country too), but was canceled due to the High Risk for tornadoes a week or so ago. I went to one of her concerts here a couple of months ago, and she was really good ... and I don't care for country music. She's a bit different than most.</div>

I do remember John Mayer was one of them. I want to say Wiz Khafia or FLO-rida was another. There was another country act, and I want to say it was Toby Keith. I had this convo a couple months back, but I do remember John Mayer was one of them. None of the choicesreally fit my taste in music which is classic rock, so I can't remember them haha.

...so was Rick Ray!

[disclaimer: the above comment is pure sarcastic speculation; as far as I know, Rick could have been 9th or even 10th.]

I'm only guessing here:<div>7. Disposable mediocre American Idol winner</div><div>6. That big-time country act always singing about how humble/small-town/patriotic they are</div><div>5.Waka Flaka Flame ft. Jason Mraz & Dimmu Borgir</div><div>4. That overly-aggressive rock band whose parents CLEARLY didn't pay them enough attention when they were young</div><div>3. Holographic Biggie Smalls!</div><div>2.Skrillex</div><div>1.Mini Kiss/Lez Zeppelin</div>

That's why you put the concert in the Amphitheater or Hump... hell, even the Junction. The same amount of people who wanna pay money to see it in the stadium will show up anywhere on campus... which completely negates any argument emphasizing how much money the University stands to make.<div>
</div><div>Sure, Sugarland at DWS is "innovative," but so too was getting a new PA guy at the Hump. It doesn't make it a good idea. The bitching, in this case, is warranted.</div>
