Suggestion regarding 'Germans' posts.....

On another sports board I frequent, a poster is allowed to prevent "Germans bomb Pearl Harbor" or "Man lands on the Moon!" replies to a new post by merely putting 'FC:' before the rest of the subject line. FC: means "fair catch". For example: FC: Finebaum predicts Ole Miss fans will be disappointed.

I really like how that works on the other board. It keeps every other new post from having to add "Maybe Germans", yet still occasionally allows for the smartass reply to those that forget to put the FC.

Another funny thing on that board is a poster will get a 'penalty flag' reply if he posts something about a (good looking) female and does not add a pic.

40 years ago today, as a matter of fact. Wish I had been alive to see that on TV - my mom always told me it was the most nerve-wracking thing she's ever watched.

Heh, when I saw the MLOTM replay I was sure that someone else had suggested the FC: previously and your reply was because I didn't put the FC: on MY post.

I was alive and remember when Norman Armstrong landed on the moon. :)

after I'd been working on the program for 3 years, so that was most excellent.

My roommate at the time was a Dawg who also worked it, and later became mayor of HSV.

PS - we also had Germans all over the place.

the the FC crap they use just sort of happened over time and is part of their board history (kinda the way Germans is with us) and they didn't have some dude pop in and yank if off some other board. Things like that happen on a particular site because of some history not because some random dude decided he liked it somewhere else. Germans works fine and eventually it will morph into something else. I know I'm never using FC....
