It's very possible

Pat Forde (Yahoo) projects Rose Bowl vs. Mississippi. Really.

One-loss Ole Miss beats undefeated MSU in Egg Bowl. Ole Miss wins SEC title game..

1) FSU
2) Ole Miss
3) MSU
4) Someone else

Yep. That's possible. MSU, UM and Auburn all three making the playoff like he predicts would never happen though. Last year, one of the semi-finals would have probably been Bama vs. Auburn.

Has anybody calculated what this is going to cost if we make it to the National championship game? Tickets and hotel in Atlanta for the SEC championship, airfare, tickets and hotel for the Rose Bowl, and then airfare, tickets and hotel for Jerrys World. Don't get me wrong, I'm going as far a Dak can take me but i'll probably get the stink eye from the wife for the cash outlay! Never thought I would even ponder this question, God it's a good time to be a Bulldog!

SECCG is an easy drive for me, so I'd buy the 4 tickets and take the family.

A Big 6 destination bowl (or other destination bowl like the Citrus if the wheels comparatively fall off) will be "the family trip". Miami, Pasadena, Dallas, Tempe, money comes out of savings, and we're flying and staying at least two nights. Sugar, we stay with the in-laws in South Mississippi. Peach, well, see above. Tickets seem to start at $110 for the lesser seats.

If the Lord smiles on us and we're in the NCG after Pasadena, it'll probably just be me. If it's after New Orleans, see above.

Well, I came home to discover the wife has bought into the hype. Apparently any and all postseason destinations will be a family trip. If things go well Saturday, I'll start paying attention to prices in earnest.

This has always been one of the downsides to all the College Playoff chatter. Fans cannot really afford to travel that much to see their team. Yeah, you may be able to swing it this year, but then what about next year? We have already seen a big decline in attendance at the BCS bowls, because fans travel to the conference championship games and don't care to make another big trip...unless its for the championship.

And before anyone brings up the basketball tournament, you are talking about a lot fewer fans in basketball. They send four (or eight) teams to one location, and the arenas are not as big as the football stadiums.

IF they do expand the playoffs to 8 teams, I think the first round games will need to be at home stadiums.

Agreed. They should do home sites until the championship game. It would be much more exciting to play the games on campuses rather than sterile NFL stadiums, and it would reward teams who had the best regular seasons.

My playoff format is automatic bids to the 5 major conferences and the highest ranked champion of a mid-major conference, plus 2 at-large bids. Highest 4 seeds host the 1st round 2 weeks after the conference championship games. Semifinals on New Year's Day, either on campus or at bowl sites. Finals on Saturday night between Jan. 11 and Jan. 17 at a site to be bid out each year.

Updated for everyone but USA Today. I like the Orange Bowl consensus, and would love to play Notre Dame, but contractually I think the ACC has to have a team in the Orange Bowl unless it's hosting a semifinal.
