To Cadaver:

"Ya boy" is hitting .194 in summer league. Care to eat your words as claiming Britton being a SEC Caliber SS and hitting over .300 next year?

Just thought I'd bring you up to speed considering you cared enough to shoot down everything I said about potential starters for next year or baseball in general for that matter. Seems as though your two cents about baseball is just about worth that...two cents. Irrelevant actually. I won't care to respond to your pandering or trying to rectify how you actually know something as the proof is in the pudding below.

FYI "my guys" are doing work in Summer Ball:

Daniel Gardner:

Games: 33 AB: 123 R: 32 H: 30 2B: 4 3B: 1 HR: 3 RBI: 14 BA: .310

Derrick Armstrong:
Games: 21 AB: 55 R: 15 H: 16 2B: 3 3B: 0 HR: 2 RBI: 7 BA: .291

Kyle Hann:
Games: 21 AB: 67 R: 10 H: 23: 2B: 1 3B: 0 HR: 2 RBI: 14 BA: .343

Jacob Robson:
Games: 21 AB: 75 R: 13 H: 23 2B: 1 3B: 0 HR: 0 RBI: 7 BA: .307

The future looks bright for Cohen & Company. The incoming recruiting class is sick. Looking forward to calling Omaha our second home. Like I said previously in June...we gotta find a spot for these fellas in the lineup.

Btw...my 1st cousins pitched for Polk in the late 80s and were teammates to Cohen (threw straight gas - 95 mph +). They were in town for my grandmother's funeral a couple weeks ago so as we're talking baseball I took the time to ask both of them about hitting the leadoff batter in the next inning after Renfroe was drilled. Their words about the situation, "Without a doubt...it's baseball...I knew when we didn't retaliate that we had laid down and were going to lose the series."

In the words of one Michael Scott, "Boom. Roasted."

I like Armstrong and Robson. Hopefully both of those guys can play their way into the lineup full time, because I think 2013 is going to be based on athleticism with a little less pop at the plate.

Amen Strat...speed kills. Hopefully Hann's arm strength increases and we can get him on the field as well. Either way with him playing 2B and Pirtle playing SS or vice versa is fine by me. With Robson and Hann stealing 45+ bases in High school and Armstrong stealing 40 in JUCO I look for us to tear up the bases next year (fingers crossed).

I'd love to see our lineup next year go:

9. Armstrong
1. Robson
2. Hann
3. Pritle
4. Rae

Something like that. I'm sure we'll try 30 different lineups in our first 32 games, but I like the potential in that lineup. I think we'd show more patience at the plate, because a walk would almost be like a double with some of those guys.

Eh- I don't think stealing bases is very hard in HS ball. You get the right jump, you should in most cases be able to steal second. It's whether your coach will allow you to do so or not that holds a lot back from stealing more- a lot of coaches are conservative there for whatever reason.

But I don't doubt they're fast.

I would like to see Nic Flair get some reps. I'd just like to see him field, just to know. All I know is Pirtle, Rea, CT, Detz will be in there. Hann seems to be tearing it up for sure. I'm rooting for Britton, too, but we'll see.

Yeah, I probably should have put Detz in the 2 hole. Either way, long time to go. I thought Nick Flair was looking to transfer. Did he not?

I don't know. I would think he'd have put in his papers by now, and I'd think a beat reporter would pick up on it. That's not always the case, but I'd think after this past season they might be more inclined to report on things like that.

Nick Flair has transfered and will not be back.

You seem pretty happy that britton isn't playing well. Hopefully he'll continue to fail, so you look good

Is more about getting at bats, reps in the field and if you are a pitcher- innings than anything. You have to take the stats with a grain of salt- both good and bad.

I'm thinking Garner is going to platoon with Cody Walker a JUCO catcher that is also having a pretty good summer in the Cal Ripken League. I'm really pleased with the summer that Garner is having though- I think we will upgrade at catcher next year.

I think Hann can handle SS defensively. He just needs to continue doing what he is doing at the plate this summer.

Robson probably starts next year. He has a chance to be an All-SEC type player. He came up with some pretty clutch hits for us last year. I think he starts in LF and we move Demarcus to RF.

Derrick Armstrong will be a good role player for us.

Hate that. Where'd he go?

I agree.

Pirtle's hitting like .230. But on our team, we can put him in a spot where he sees good pitches and can put them in play.

I'm glad for the ones that are doing well, but I don't write off the ones that aren't burning the league up.

Bradford and Detz will be the 1-2 hitters.

I'm guessing you are proposing that we take Henderson, a veteran Sr. starter, out of the lineup to get Armstrong in? Not happening, genius. At most, he can only hope to platoon with Robson at the other OF spot vs. right/left handed pitching.

I'm with Todd, summer ball only tells you so much. Hann's breakout is really the only thing you can take from those stats.

I personally hope Hann comes along enough to where he and Pirtle can be our middle infielders. I personally just don't see Britton as an SEC starter unless he has come a long way as a consistent fielder. I personally don't ever see him as a good SEC hitter so I'm certainly not surprised at the summer ball stats.
