in 3A.

I think this is the first time this has happened since New Hope and Darth Hester went undefeated in 1996.

Sumrall's SS, Chase Luwallen is a junior this year, and has already verbally committed to MSU. He was hitting .430 going into the Championship, and I believe he had hit six home runs.

I also believe that we are recruiting his teammate Jared Miller, who has hit 14 home runs this year. He is also a pitcher.

i really like hearing about the drastic changes in recruiting with this staff.

also going undefeated in baseball is one of the hardest things to do in sports. so many damn games and one off night with a pitcher and the streak would be dead.

/i know, i know...you people who don't want to hear about polk anymore are going to get mad and try to highjack the thread because of my comment. cry me a river

Miller was actually just named Player of the Year by the Hattiesburg-American over his teammate Luwellan. Great team Coach Knight has over there.

...and the second one this decade. My high school alma mater, Heidelberg Academy, went 29-0 in winning the MPSA Class A title in 2004. And to maintain the MSU connection in this thread, Brooks Lewis, a graduating senior catcher for MSU, was on Heidelberg's undefeated team.

Sumrall game to see my old HS team finish off a perfect 36-0 record which included a number of wins over some of the better 4A and 5A teams in the state. Jarrod Miller pitched a complete game 3 hitter in an 11-1 win where Lewellan had a couple of singles, one being of the bunt variety. Cohen and Lewellan should mesh well as Chase is a guy that plays with the motor running full out at all times. Besides Miller and Lewallen MSU ought to take a look the junior 3rd baseman Jackson Posey. He is 6'4 and hit a 3 run shot today in the first inning that was well over 400 feet and he has the highest batting average on the team (over .500).
