Thought that the championship game was the day after Selection Sunday. But in 2025 its much later, Sunday March 16th.
That makes even less sense. Why have a 7-day tournament that magnifies the regular season so much, and end it a whole week before the NCAA tournament selection? With this format, the likely scenario is the 1 seed / 2 seed plays their final regular season game on March 1st. They get a week off. Play 2 games in 2 days, then get 9 or 10 days off before starting NCAA play. That’s not exactly setting your league champ up for success with those huge extended layoffs. If the 3-4 seed gets the auto bid, its not much different. Just goes to 3 games in 3 days in the middle.
If the regular season is that important, add a couple more games to the regular season to help with tiebreakers and schedule balance, and start this tournament on Monday, March 10th.
