#4....yes, we blitzed more, but.....

UKKK read it every time and broke off a screen pass for a big gain. We have talent on defense but the coaching leaves alot to be desired. Been that way the whole Mullen Era except for when Manny was here. I like Chris Wilson for his recruiting though, and I don't think his coaching sucks. It's just very average. We don't have a 'great' defense.

read it every time? Didnt we have 4 or 5 sacks? They didnt really read ****- they hit us with a screen once on a blitz- it's football, that is going to happen.

Wilson is doing a good job, and has been better than Manny to this point. He still has some "wtf Coach???" moments, but all coaches do. You're off on this one.

Texas D has been porous this year. Ole Miss put up a ton of yards on them and West Virginiamade them look silly last night. Ill take Wilson at this point

Spanky, you just don't understand football. Manny Diaz was good but he wasn't the defensive demi-god you remember. He single handily lost us the Auburn game in 2010 w/the worst defensive play call I've ever seen in my life. Coach is dead on with this one

I'm praising MSU's D in 2010 coached by Diaz.....

We actually had more talent on that D than Texas does this year. Look in the NFL.

Nope we had Cam hemmed up. By far his worst game in college. If Diaz used half a brain on 1 play, we win. I guess I've never forgot about that one

.....no ****... You mean to tell me that Texas' current defense has 0 players in the NFL? My God... they don't know how to recruit!

Bwa ha ha. Cam's ability to convert 3rd downs won that game.....

...and there wasn't a damn thing our D was going to do about it. Anything under 8 yards was automatic.

Because our schedule is back loaded, and we have had the luxury

3. We actually came out with a little more fire yesterday. Great drive to open the game and take the lead right off the bat. We slipped back into coasting some because we jumped out to big leads. The game was over when we got up 27-7 and our guys knew it. The playcalling got conservative at that point, and we were just ready to get it over with. Saban did it last week and people wanted to talk about how improved Mississippi was, we do it and people want to say we aren’t that good. Shocker huh? You can see this bunch will be “ready ready” next Saturday.
(I hope this ok to quote)

I think we have coasted when possible, to date, to build depth, and to try to keep players fresh and healthy,
in order to get ready for the **** storm SEC schedule that we are headed for.

What game were you watching? I remember us holding a top 5 national championship winning offense to their lowest point total the entire season. Shut them out the 2nd half. Manny Diaz lost the Auburn game for us? You're completely cracked out.

I said 1 call lost us the game. 3rd and goal from the 25 and you run an all out bltiz vs Cam Newton leaving our dbs in man to man. A slant for a td when we should have played it conservative and kept everything in front of us. Our D played lights out the whole game but that 1 moronic play call by Diaz lost it. So if "cracked out" means I understand football more than you, I agree

We’ll be up and ready next week- make sure you are in your seat doing your part to make it a miserable experience for the team in the prison orange.

I think that's something commentators, especially ESPN recently, haven't taken into account with their projections for next week: Sure, State is 5-0 against weak teams, but DWS will be packed with the happiest State fans Starkville has seen in years. I anticipate the stadium to be rocking next week. I can't possibly envision our players coming out flat or going lethargic with that kind of crowd.

Let's assume your logic is correct (which it isn't)....

that still points towards Diaz being a hell of a coordinator if he only made one bad call all game.

And you picked a terrible game to pick on him. See the point made earlier about Auburn being, well, one of the most dynamic offenses in SEC history.

Just shut up. Keep your football mastery to yourself, squirt.

They barely crossed 200 yards for the game. So that automatically dismisses your declaration of them breaking off big gainers "every time" we blitzed.

7,8 and 10 are spot on. Address these issues and we will be a big handful for everyone left on the schedule. If we don't, everyone left on the schedule will be a big handful for us. Also, what about that grape jelly?

He spreads it on his *** for his dog to lick while he cooks.

not a bad idea

I use grape jelly in my spaghetti sauce. Was just concocting my own recipe for a pork loin, and added grape jelly at the end to top it off. Couldnt have turned out any better

I think we were sandbagging this game. After we got out to that 14-0 lead, we pretty much knew they weren't going to come back on us. Why show Tennessee your complete playbook, when you can move the ball with the same 3-4 plays, and stuff their offense with a basic defense?

We give up 17 points and it's the defense's fault? Didn't know Crooms posted here.

By that logic why'd we even play the second half? A defensive play in the first half completely cost us the whole game.

We actually had more talent on that D than Texas does this year. Look in the NFL.

Questionable at best...

In the NFL, we have:
Fletcher Cox(soph) - 1st rd
KJ Wright(sr) - 4th rd
Charles Mitchell(jr) - 6th rd
Chris White(sr) - 6th rd
Pernell McPhee(sr) - 5th rd

and will add:
John Banks - 1st rd
Corey Broomfield - (late selection)
Nickoe Whitley - early round (was still a bigtime backup at this point)
Josh Boyd - 3rd-5th rd
possibly a few more in backup roles, but those were the contributors

Texas this year(projected):
DE Jackson Jeffcoat(jr) - 1st rd
DE Alex Okafor(sr) - 1st-2nd rd
CB Carrington Byndom(jr) - 1st-2nd rd
SS Kenny Vacarro(sr) - early 2nd rd

and will add:
CB Quandre Diggs(so) - 1st rd
DE Reggie Wilson(jr) - late selection
DE Cedric Reed(so) - 3rd-5th rd
DT Ashton Dorsey(jr) - 3rd-4th rd
DT Desmond Jackson(so) - 3rd-5th rd
ILB Curtis Grant(so) - 3rd-5th rd
OLB Jordan Hicks(jr) - 4th-6th rd

On talent alone, Diaz should be dominating at Texas. Why he's not is anyone's guess... Because they are definitely huge underperformers.

I think a lot of people are undervaluing Cam in their NFL projections. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play a long time. He's got good size, good speed, and has a ridiculous football I.Q. NFL teams are always looking for LBs that can handle the mental part of the game, and I don't think there's any question Cam can do that. Sure, he's not the biggest guy, but he's not exactly undersized at LB, either. He may not be "great" at any one part of the game, but there isn't a single part of the game he's awful at, either. He just quietly goes about his business and puts up big numbers. Guys like that tend to stick around the NFL for a while.

Also, I think Slay goes in the 3rd round at worst. NFL scouts have known about him for a while, and the way he's been playing hasn't done anything but elevate his stock. If he keeps it up, he could move himself onto the 1st-2nd round bubble.

That said, you're absolutely right about Texas' D not performing based on available talent. There's really no excuse for that program in general to not be a perennial top 5-10 team. I think Mack Brown has finally hit the wall that almost all coaches seem to hit eventually. He needs to step down and let someone else take over before they get much worse.

He was referring to our 2010 defense vs Texas current defense, which is why I left of Lawrence, Slay, and others... Hard to see almost any of our current defense not at least getting a shot at the next level, save a few of the senior contributors on the DL...

several thoughts

I hope we are coasting.

We still need a homerun threat when we have a lead to stretch it deep, and put it away. Bump is not it. Nor clark. I love the way Milton runs it. Robinson is serviceable, but still unsure...in time. Robinson does love to 17 ppl up at the end of runs though. he deserves some carries, but milton deserves more.

I do not feel like the UT D-front will be an issue. I happen to believe Lemonier and Dee Ford are two of the better ends in the league. Our tackles have seen some talent with them. I like that facet.

I think Bill Belichick would draft Cam Lawerence right now.

I saw PJ get some snaps Saturday. Looks good, like an SEC body should. Brandon Hill is back and promptly drops a ball that hit him in the hands. What about Malcolm for Saturday? The announcers said he had practiced last week but mullens "was not ready to get him back out there".

I am guessing tobias will play sat versus the pumpkins. we need him in the interior run game.

Will we put banks on Patterson and slay on Hunter and roll with it.

Dammit, Mckinney and Skinner look huge and bring the lumber.

Boyd had a good game. Denico got a sack and QB dismissal. I would be pleased to see one of them 17 tyler bray up.

come saturday, If the house is a rockin by all means come a knockin.
