1. 3 in a row mf'ers!!! 3 in a row. I love all the Bear fans that act like it doesnt matter. Michigan always wants to beat Michigan State. Virginia Tech always wants to beat Virginia. And on and on and on. Everybody else in the country cares- but Mississippi Bear fans dont? Really? They do care- and it is absolutely tearing them up inside. Dominate your rival- Mullen gets it- and I'm very glad the Bears dont.<div>
</div><div>2. Great defense again. I like what we have in Wilson. He's done a good job this season. And our LB coach hire has worked as well. Our LB's have become a strength this season. Skinner and Lawrence will be very good next season.</div><div>
</div><div>3. Goodbye to Fletcher Cox and Banks. Hate to see you guys leave early- but I do understand. Todd McShay has Fletcher listed as the 4th best DT for the draft- and combine work wont do anything but help his stock- looks like we will have consecutive 1st round picks in the NFL draft- a great selling point in recruiting. Banks will make a very good safety in the NFL- his ball skills are outstanding.</div><div>
</div><div><div>4. Bowling again is huge. I look forward to getting reports from the entire week of practice the back-ups and Freshmen get to see how they have improved since August. We need some guys on the OL to step up- and the Prescott to Morrow connection to hit a few times when they scrimmage.</div><div>
</div><div>5. Glad we had a big batch of jucos there watching. We get a few plug-ins on the OL- and in the Secondary, we will be tough again next year. Curious to see if Eulls moves inside to take Fletcher's spot. And then what will we have at DE. Mullen and staff need to lock up a few juco signatures and 2012 is going to be fun again.</div><div>
</div><div>6. Thank you Ralph. You are the Mississippi Bear kryptonite. You took a beating the last 2 seasons that would make Kevin Fant proud, and came thru at the end. It could have been better, but for a 2-star nobody that was a roster filler- I'll damn sure take it. Vick Ballard- thanks for your 2 years also. You played your *** off and ran hard- leaving here with your name in the record books. Congrats.</div></div><div>
</div><div><div>7. Yeah, its 6-6. Some of us thought before the season this team could be a great deal better. But the lack of depth on the OL showed us that it wasnt possible this season. I hate we lost the Auburn and SC games because they were right there for the taking- but losing OL guys and the constant shuffle affected that greatly. Having both QB's hurt this season didnt help either. But 5 of our 6 losses came to 10 win teams. We arent losing to ******** teams It sux- but a bowl is progress for our program. Thats how you build a program- string together bowl appearances- recruits like to see that you can sustain some success. And thats what we are starting to do.</div><div>
</div><div>8. Its that time of year aGAIN- Mullen's name is probably going to be thrown around for a job- Penn St is open, Arizona State is open, and a couple others will I'm sure. Other schools will try like hell to use it against us. But that is just part of being successful. We havent had a head coach stolen away in 50 years- if it happens, we will be ok. We now have the resources and momentum to make a great hire. Hopefully Mullen stays and continues to build- we know he loves it in Starkville. I'm sure we will have another interesting offseason regardless</div></div><div>
</div><div>In Mullen We Trust,</div><div>

Man the thought of us not having Banks, Cox, and Mullen next year is quite a downer.

Gotta think Mullen want be going anywhere, why would he leave a comfortable 2.6 million job with more to come in the best conference in the USA? Not sure all of the expectations about Mullen leaving are in his cards at least not in his wife's plans who btw moved her parents to Starkville. Oh I think some schools will go after Mullen but I think it would take a lot, he's so damn competitive I think he wants to see how much success he can get at Msu and in the SEC.

but for the last two years, they haven't been able to do anything about it.

I sit with his H.S coaches dad and I asked him this yesterday and he said that if J.B is in the top fifty in the draft he is going. He is being told that right now he will be a mid 2nd rounder and could move up with a good showing at the combine. I hate it but that's the price we pay when we have talented players and it sure beats the alternative.

might get a starting job at DT if Cox leaves as well.

I agree with you 100% about bowling. That's what some of our fans don't get when we play someone like La Tech that they think may not be "interesting". Well, now they get to see us play an interesting team in a bowl game and on top of that, we get more exposure, more practice, more time to build depth, and money for the school.

No way that dude is ready for the NFL. He looks skinny on a college field. No NFL team is going to jump up and take him in the 1st or 2nd round. Plus, he's probably going to be a S at the next level. I know he has good ball skills and he's pretty athletic, but I don't think he's going to make All SEC this year.

however Ole Miss is so bad that they can make an average team look real good. That's not to take anything away from our victory because I thought the team gave a great effort. Relf ran harder and played with more emition than he has since the Auburn game. It's a great feeling to win three in a row against your rival. Who would have thought after the 45-0 pounding and Relf playing the last couple of quarters in that game that he would come back and win three in a row against the Black Bears? I think Mullen deserves a lot of credit for Relf's progression from 08 til now. It's a great feeling to sit back and see where we will end up. I think Cox is gone, but I believe Banks will be back.

We were two plays (Auburn and South Carolina) away from being 8-4 again. For all our griping, and some of that was justified, we were THAT close to having a much more impressive record.

He may be skinny, but scouts love his height & long arms. He's been making big plays since year 1 and he only keeps getting better. He's a legit NFL talent.

We are a 6-6 team, and we didn't attract much attention after the Auburn loss and LSU loss on national tv, subsequent weekends. Cox and Banks both have chances to have unbelievable seasons next year. I didn't see them on ESPN highlight reels all year long like most high draft picks. I mean, do people really forego their senior seasons to be 4th round picks? (I'm asking out of ignorance - I figure only 1st rounders would skip their senior years)

Cam got around 24 mil where the year before it was 60 million. Banks would be stupid to leave for 4th round money.

we have pro scouts at practice all during the season- NFL teams dont do their scouting on ESPN<div>
</div><div>Cox is projected as the 4th best DT that is draft eligible- that means he is a probable 1st round pick. I want Cox to stay. It would be best for us for him to do that- but it's hard to say someone that is already a probable 1st rounder should come back. What if Fletcher tears his ACL next year against Kentucky? Would it make coming back what is best for him? Will coming back vault him into a top10 draft pick? Maybe. Only he can weigh the pros and cons</div><div>
</div><div>Banks is a different story. Banks is projected by scouts to be a late 2nd-early 4th pick. He should stay and try to improve his stock. But he is going around telling everyone that will listen that he is gone. And thats why you are seeing a push by our staff to recruit some juco DB's.Not sure what his thinking is- but apparently he is ready to go to work</div>

Powe, UM - 6th round
Steven Ridley, LSU - 3rd round
Justin Houston, Georgia - 3rd round
Darvin Adams, Auburn - undrafted

I'm sure there are more but these are just a few I found looking over the 2011 draft. And you can add Jevan Snead in 2010. People do crazy stuff when it comes to a chance to play in the NFL.

I mean, he was already older than half the players in the league when he declared for the draft.
