about people pulling strings with the ABC to get them to deny were not true. They were ********. The fact is that our BofA did not send in the correct information or did not send in enough information. The ABC reviews every single request for Sunday sales by examining the information the city gives them. It was not enough information for them to approve two weeks ago when we first heard of this. I do know the Mayor and Aldermen worked at sending better information to the ABC, hence the approval today.

The baptists did crusade to send hundreds of letters to the ABC requesting them to kill this but pulling strings did not happen.

-See you at The Bin on Sunday's

I don't think BOA screwed up anything other than Roy Perkin's and his unilateral crusade against this board approved measure. And I know that there were many of us who came to the defense of the amendment and personally called or emailed the ABC.

The reason the ABC did not accept it in the first place was because they did not receive a good enough case from the BOA. So yes, that is where they messed up.

Hey Coach, I would check your sources. As the one who led this effort for the city, I can promise that what we provided to the ABC initially was what was needed and it was the same information that they had in hand yesterday. There were other issues that came to play when they denied it the 1st time.

Since apparently board members read the pack, I would love to hear what actually happened from a board member. Why did the ABC squash it in the first place? What were these "other issues"?

If this is really you I would like to thank you for spearheading the whole thing. Thank you for your time and service to the community. By no means was I attacking you guys but I would like to know what happened. Again, thank you for trying your best to move Starkville forward.

Yes it is me, long time pack reader - but 3 time poster.

Honestly, the ABC never gave us a reason, we do know that they voted on it, it was denied, and then they decided to reconsider the matter, that is why no official statement was offered, because technically, once they reconsidered their "nay" vote, the issue was still on the table.

We were tentatively told that our DUI rate, the recent happenings in downtown (purse snatching, etc.), and the fact that it was a split vote were all considered. Roy Perkins also wrote a letter that was received and printed in the Daily News. Of course I believe that all of the above should have no bearing on the decision and I think once they reconsider the matter and the fact that multiple other towns in Mississippi are considering coming into the 19th century, they knew that a more proactive stance was needed.

I commend the ABC for reconsidering and ultimately listening to the Citizens of Starkville.

Thanks for the support and I look forward to an exciting 4 years.

You need to post more. You can be our "Officially Unofficial" connection with the Board of Aldermen.

But seriously I supported you and Wiseman and I'm extra glad we have a Landscape Architect pushing LEED ideas to the community.</p>

On the afternoon of the LSU game, there is a good chance that a certain house in your area will have a band in the backyard after the game. The band won't be loud, and it won't go into the night. But, you will still probably get calls. Just tell them to calm down and everything will be OK. Please.

Thanks.
