Hiring Kirby Smart might have changed things here, but we didn’t hire him and time moves

Will we ever know that? There were public names, and public speculation, but will we ever know who was reached out to?

I don't think there were a ton of big names out there when Beamer was hired. Jamey Chadwell was probably the most successul at Coastal. You hire him and it doesn't work and everyone is screaming in hindsight about not hiring a Power 4 (then 5) coach. Others who were available, Billy Napier and Hugh Freeze. They were disasters at Florida and Auburn, respectively. At the time, I thought the Beamer hire was a good one. I now think his days are numbered and am frankly suprised he wasn't cut loose Sunday morning.

I saw a clip earlier from The Roar and they guy was talking about the big issue with the program and that it matches up with the head coach. Immaturity. We've had many discussions about that very thing. Shane's rabbit ears. The pressers starting off with the whiny bitching about what's been written and what's been said on social media, etc. The sunglasses. The tantrum in Orlando. The whiny halftime interview in College Station last year. So many front facing things that shouldn't be front facing.

Maybe there's a full program "come to Jesus" this week and something clicks like it did after the Bama loss in 2024, but this team looks so much worse that that team had to that point in 2024. That team took some bad breaks and a couple of garbage calls. This team just looks disjointed and chaotic. I like Shane and I wanted him to be the guy, but I think the writing on the wall has quickly become obnoxious graffiti and he's walking the Garnet mile.

Yes, Chadwell and Napier were the two I remember. Looks like there wasnt an obviously good choice in the bunch.

I just wonder how many people were reached out to unofficially before we settled on those three.

I have no idea if Beamer is to fired after this year. If so I have no idea who the possible candidates may be. I also have no idea who the AD would hire as a new HC.

But what I do know, it is way past time to get past the "I would not have been my first choice, but I hope he does well here" narrative.
I don't recall the Muschamp or Beamer announcement being greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm.

I distinctly remember the Muschamp hire. I said to a buddy, at least when we fire him in 4 or 5 years we'll have upgraded out talent.

I thought he would recruit well, but fail.

For Beamer, I just thought dumpster fire would hit sooner.
