I'm sure it's been discussed before, but don't remember what the pack's general consensus was.

I'd prefer Fri/Sat/Sun. Was it moved to Thursday for television purposes?

Yes - it was for TV. I'm not a huge fan b/c the purpose of SBW is supposed to be a spring homecoming. Having it start on Thursday limits that opportunity for those that would attend Saturday and Sunday.

I dont mind every team having 1 series a year start on Thursday for TV, but I wish it wasn't SBW.

I hate it. Super Bulldog Weekend is important to draw in potential students for next year. Now its a day shorter. Only a few people will drive up on a thursday.

Is there anything else going on on Sunday besides the baseball game? If so, maybe it's not such a bad idea. It would actually be extending SBW.

Edited: Per HS.com, there is nothing scheduled on Sunday except a tennis match. So I dislike. Need something low-key on Sunday and a baseball game is perfect.

Dislike. We move enough for TV. I'm not saying we fight it every time in every sport, but when important on campus events are being diminished it is a problem.

I dislike it, for the same reasons everybody is listing.

BUT, since many can only make weekend games...it could lead to a monster crowd on Saturday. Especially if we are going for the sweep.

Dislike very much. It's hard to call it a Super Weekend when it starts on Thursday and ends by Saturday.

Fail.

*But, but, but think of all the exposure.******

Why is football different that baseball? Seems like the majority opinion here is Thursday night football is great exposure. Why isn't it good for baseball? *Think of all those TV sets in Missouri watching us now.*****

It'd be cool if they planned like a huge cookout and concert on Sunday. "Worlds biggest crawfish boil" or something like that.

Man that's Saturday stuff, while people are getting hammered. Sunday, most folks are headed home anyway, but there needs to be SOMETHING else besides tennis. Not everybody will be hung over.

Think of all those TV sets in Missouri watching us now.

After combing through your layers of asterisks/sarcasterisks/gaycasterisks/etc., I have a nit-pick. ESPNU is seen all over the country. If we pile in the people, it will be HUGE for the program.

Starting to see why Stricklin did it.

I agree. I can agree with the exposure arguement for baseball. Football, I have a tougher time accepting because they are on TV somewhere on Saturdays. But that is differnet topic. However, baseball.....we get one chance. We better take it regardless if it is SBW weekend.

I am not in the camp that holds television viewership paramount. For selfish reasons, I like Football on Saturday and baseball weekends to start on Friday.

I'm neither for nor against, but saying that it hurts the attendance at the actual game isn't looking at it tangibly. The Thursday UT game had 1k more in attendance than the average of the past 5 Sunday games...

2012 Thurs Tenn game - 6388 paid, 3725 actual
2011 Sun Fla game - 6453 paid, 3046 actual
2010 Sun Tenn game - paid not showing, 2707 actual
2009 Sun UK game - 7187 paid, 2452 actual
2008 Sun UGA game - 6246 paid, 2621 actual
2007 Sun UK game - 6307 paid, 2460 actual

They no longer show actual attendance in our box scores -- so it will most likely be impossible to know if the trend from last year will continue this year...

Also, I think the success of the teams had something to do with it as well.

If that was the case, 2007 should have been much higher, yes? We were 3-3 in the SEC at that time. Then again, I could see how the 2006 crash and burn could have hurt 2007 attendance early in the SEC season...and the rest of these years were self-explanatory.

Either way, we were certainly not "primed for success" at the time of SBW last year either. 5-10 in SEC coming off getting swept in Columbia and beat in the Gov's Trophy game with an RPI in the mid 40s and a very real threat to miss the tournament...

This is the first SBW where people have been excited and optimistic about the team(as of this week in the season) since 2006 -- which brought the 5th largest crowd in DNF/NCAA history @ 13,617 -- 98 fewer than the Saturday Clemson SR game...

I generally disliked the SEC double-headers, but...

I think the Saturday double-header and single game on Sunday was most conducive to larger crowds. Having two games on a day most people have nothing else pressing made it more of an event, especially when coupled with the football Spring game.

I would at least prefer the Friday, Saturday, Sunday format again.

Saturday has the potential to be ridiculous especially if we are staring at a sweep.

HATE...I live out of town and can't make it Thursday and I know a lot of others that are the same way. It's supposed to be super bulldog WEEKEND not week. We shouldn't work around the tv schedule for our biggest sports weekend of the year. It brings down the attendance and overall excitement if you ask me. I don't think it's crucial that it's on TV anyway.

If they want to move another weekend to Thursday so it can be televised I have no problem with that but not SBW.
