Not sure why, but could this be possibly a good thing for us. He can't get in trouble there for one thing, but he does miss out on some valuable experience.

...that Stans was not totally pleased with Sidney's progress in Houston over the summer. So, no trip overseas. Probably told him he was not going over seas or sitting on his a$$ in Starkville while they are gone. Only option, back to Houston...

He wasnt pleased with Sidney's progress in Houston so he sent him back to Houston? For what, to ask for a refund?

You can look at it good or bad. Good that Sidney is showing the dedication to continue training but at the same time, I think this is a chance to gel with your team and build some chemistry.

It's just not. He's had 7 months since the Belhaven game showed him just how out of shape he was to get in shape. And he's worked with Lucas for 2 months already. It's not like another week is going to make the difference here. It's much more important for him to be with the team, playing, and building team chemistry (which has been shot to hell for a while now).

Terrible move by Stans to let a player decide whether or not he's going on a road trip. If Stans had told Sidney to stay behind, it would have still been bad, but not this bad. This basketball program is just like Jackie's last football teams were. The inmates are running the asylum.

There's no way to spin this as good. Maybe we didn't want him anywhere near Amsterdam, maybe he didn't do what he needed to get his passport, but there's no way to spin it as a good thing. There's a lot of big talk going on about how good we're supposed to be and this is a great opportunity to gel and get a leg up on chemistry early in the season.

There is no way this is good news. If things were all good, Sidney would NEVER choose to go to Houston vs. Europe. Sounds like Stans has told him he cannot go and is letting someone spin this as a Sidney decision. I suspect the problems are not limited to his weight, attitude and lack of conditioning.

Spend a month in Houston being trained by Lucas with no NCAA regulations or travel europe eating at restaurants with limited practice and playing time, all while being coached by Stansbury. I definitely think this is better for Sidney. He also can't get into trouble. Is it better for the team? We have no way of knowing but if it means Sidney will be a better player and be in better shape, it may be better for the team. My only question is, did Sidney come back to Starkville and put some weight back on?
