Off twitter:
New Dan Mullen contract to show an extremely strong commitment to him from the MSU administration.

Can't link it - twitter blocked at work.

Would it be outside of the norm for Stricklin to contractually agree to a definitive timeline for a stadium expansion and football only facility in Mullen's contract? Just curious.

Everyone keeps on saying that we (as fans) will be happy with this contract as well. It keeps kinda pointing towards that direction, at least thats my opinion anyways.

Could it have a provision for a large bonus if Dan is still the coach on some future date (say maybe 6-8 years from now)?

those are things that would show Dan that we are committed to having a great football program and will support him. It shows that we are willing to supply what he needs to attract players and win.

Just hearsay. I want to see something from Strickland soon. There are three potential reasons why this is taking so long 1.) Coach Mullen is keeping the door open, 2.) Stricklin isn't doing his job, or 3.) Mullen and Stricklin have such an agreement that they can just take their time and work it out (as they are sort of portraying). I say it is reason #1.

Part of the reason he didn't bolt for Florida back whenever it was wasn't it?

How non-despript can one be? AKA, he has no idea what the hell the contract says or will say.

Here are a few tweets from jmbeck on the matter.

"Mullen's new contract will include a significant raise."

"The new contract will be the maximum allowable length by MS law."

"New football contract will be for the largest amount in Mississippi State history."

"Mississippi State set to make Dan Mullen one of the highest paid coaches in the state."

of buy out clause in the case Penn State or some other School comes down the road to cover us that would at least make them swallow hard on taking him....

Isn't Nutt the only one higher? Even if Fedora is higher is already at #3 which constitutes "one of the highest"....

I love Dan, but if we get scared and mortgage the farm now, we may regret it later. As was said on Rivals Radio this am, State has had 7-8 win seasons before. What we haven't had is consistent winning seasons.

Now, I do think Mullen is the man to take us there, but it would be a first wouldn't it? I know it's apples and oranges, but we jacked up Croom's salary after one good year (SEC coach of the year, no less) and then...craptastic!

I'm just saying we should be competitive, but not go crazy. Let's leave room for improvement. If he takes us to Atlanta he'll be needing a raise then, too. Of course, I understand that if we don't pony up he could bolt, but let's be reasonable. </p>

It has been argued on here constantly, but the real question comes down to whether it is just about money for Mullen. I don't think it is. If he wants to stay, he will stay and will be happy with any raise. If it is about money, he is already gone. I am confident Stricklin understands this as well, and is not going to bury us here. "Agressive" doesn't mean he is going to be stupid about it. And, I assume he knows Mullen better than anyone, and will negotiate accordingly. MEANWHILE, everybody needs to donate.
