(May 8, 2015)</strong> – West Virginia University volleyball coach Reed Sunahara announced Wednesday that middle blocker/right side Mia Swanegan will transfer from TCU and join the Mountaineers for the 2015 season.</em></p><p></p><p></p><p><em>“We’re excited to have Mia join our program,” said Sunahara. “She brings great athleticism to our program and will give us versatility at multiple positions. With a year of collegiate experience under her belt, we feel she’ll make an impact immediately for us.”</em></p><p></p><p></p><p><em>A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, played in 30 sets for the Horned Frogs, averaging 1.47 kills per set with a .275 hitting percentage. She also posted 22 blocks for an average of 0.73 per set, including a career-best six against Northern Iowa. Swanegan recorded a career-best nine kills on 19 attacks at Kansas in 2014 and hit a season-best .667 against UAP.</em></p><p></p><p></p><p><em>A 6-1 freshman, Swanegan was a three-time all-conference honoree Blue Springs South High, earning three all-district distinctions in addition to a pair of all-region accolades. In addition to earning all-state honorable mention as a junior and all-state second team accolades as a senior, Swanegen was nominated to the Evelyn Gates Award, given to the top female high school volleyball player in the Kansas City area. She finished her career with 679 career kills and 210 blocks, hitting .313 over four years and earning a spot on the Missouri All-Star team.</em></p><p></p><p></p><p><em>Swanegan was granted a one-time transfer exception from the NCAA and will be eligible immediately with three years remaining.</em></p><p></p><p></p><p><em>Follow @WVUSports and @WVUVolleyball on Twitter</em></p></blockquote><p></p>
