The biggest issue is waiting so long to drop the kid.

Ok I can see that. But to me with the frequency that this happens, it's shameful yes but not surprising.

Certainly bad form by Harbaugh but not unprecedented

exactly that is why both sides need to have their eyes wide open in this process. Sure it is not cool to pull the plug on a schollie with a week to go, just like its not cool for a recruit to do the same when the school stops recruiting others when they think they have someone locked up. The NCAA could fix all this but they are too busy counting dollars to do things that make sense. And why is the media jumping on Harbaugh, its because he does not play nice with the media especially teddy greenstein who has said before he has had problems with JH so they see a chance to jump on him and are.

Yeah that sucks but I am sure Harbaugh was waiting for another kid to commit that he wanted more. It's a business and to think they are looking at the best interest of the kid is well just very naïve. Agree with most it sucks and really don't care for Harbaugh at all. The reality is it's a business and it's been going on for a long time and this is not going to change anything.

No, it's different now.
40 years ago the trustees of some universities would tolerate a football coach habitually deceiving 16 and 17-year-old boys, as long as the behavior remained hidden from public scrutiny.
Today, because trustees are tolerating the public, flagrant, unapologetic, in-your-face nature of coaches' deceptions, trustees are forced to admit to their intentional disregard of the university's long-held core values, its soul.

I was thinking of the Alabamas, LSUs, Oklahomas, etc. of the 70s.
