Swindoll tweets that Renfroe was consistently at 96-97 today.

That guy will factor in somewhere in relief with us this year. That's big time for a freshman pitcher.

No doubt that he has a great arm. But as a pitcher, he is very, very raw.

IF we could harness his talent, then yes, he could be a GREAT pitcher for us in relief.

only counts as one ball, as you know.

If he didn't walk anyone, I would say that is a sign of encouragement even if a couple went to backstop. They have three years to work with him and him becoming a really good pitcher isn't totally out of the question. He just rarely pitched in high school until his senior year from what I understand. Heck, I saw an interview with him, and he sincerely had no clue how hard he was throwing. I just don't expect him to see a whole lot of action this year on the mound.

He might be a combination of Ricky Vaughn and Crash Davis. Which is a good thing.

for some reason it seems we have way more than our share of arm injuries.

I will say that we are as healthy right now as we have been in a LONG time. Ben Bracewell and Wes Rea are the only ones that might have to sit out the year, and there's a good chance that both of them will play.

I'm not sure how Micheal Dixon will do. It has taken him awhile to recover from Tommy John.

worked one inning going 3 up 3 down while striking out 1. He threw 9 pitches, 6 of which were strikes.

He throw a few to the backstop during warmups, you think those hitters are going to dig in?

I would probably look worse than John Kruk in the All-Star Game against Randy Johnson.

If he can be effectively wild, I would take it any and every day.

where he got his radar gun from. Starkville PD, Mississippi Highway Patrol, or if he stole it from a scout.

I went to school with Hunter, and he started for our team as a 9th grade when I was a senior. He is probably the best talent I have ever seen in high school baseball. He never pitched till' his senior year. Terrible coaching I know. His pitching in high school was rock back and throw hard as he can which was topping out at 96 and consistent 90-92. I say I can't wait till his sophomore year because after working on fundamentals and developing a second and third pitch, he will be an outstanding closer.

he has a slider too. Not sure how good it is, but he throws one.

I'm eager to see how he does in his next scrimmage and then how he does early in the season. He obviously did great today, so I hope he builds on it. And to be honest, based on today, he might be further along than I thought he would be in terms of pitching. Which could be a very, very good thing.

He is going to get an opportunity to show what he can do on the mound early in the season, and I'm eager to see how he does. Like Mutt said, I don't think too many people are going to be digging in against him.

But you are right- regardless of where he is at this point- after a year of coaching, he could take a huge step forward next year on the mound and be pretty filthy.
