Goldsboro scored their first points of the season in last week's loss to Southern Wayne, that has to be a great sign for the Cougars as they head to Aycock to face the Falcons. The Falcons are coming off an bye week so expect those kids to be ready for some action. G 0 CBA 42

SOUTH LENOIR 2-1 @ SPRING CREEK 0-3
If the Gators are to win a game this season, this may be their best opportunity. They'll be matched up against a Blue Devils squad with two victories over two teams that I don't believe won't win a game this season. I do think that the Gators will come out and play their best game of the season, but will fall short. SL 28 SC 22

(21)ROSEWOOD 0-3 @ HOBBTON 0-3
The Eagles got beat down last week against North Johnston, while Hobbton continues to get closer to a victory every week. I look for the Wildcats to break through this week and get their first win of the season. R 24 H 42

(10)WALLACE ROSE HILL 1-2 @ PENDER 2-0
The Bulldogs found their way to the wins column last week, with their victory over Clinton. This week they face another challenge in the Patriots, a team that's undefeated, and will be looking to take advantage of a not so Wallace team. As the Bulldogs continue to struggle on offense, and haven't found their rhythm as of yet. I believe they'll look closer to the Bulldogs that we're used to this week. WRH 35 P 6

(15)PRINCETON 2-1 @ NORTH JOHNSTON 3-0
I'm still not a believer in the Panthers, if they can pull this one out I'll believe. To do so they'll have a challenge on their hand in slowing down the Bulldogs rushing attack on offense. Good luck with that, as one of the Bulldog's back rushed for 398 yards on the ground last week against Seaforth. I don't believe the Bulldogs will have a back to go over 300 this week, but I do believe that the Bulldogs will win in a shootout over the Panthers. P 57 NJ 49

SOUTH JOHNSTON 1-1 @ (24)MIDWAY 3-0
The Trojans has struggled to score points this season, and to beat this Raiders team you must be able to score. The Raiders have scored over 50 points in their last two outings, and 35 points is their lowest of the season. I look for Midway to keep rolling on offense, and I do believe that the Trojans will put up their best showing on offense in this one. SJ 28 M 42

GAME OF THE WEEK
(4)EAST DUPLIN PANTHERS 3-0 @ (7)JAMES KENAN TIGERS 1-1
My Tigers will be at home in the Jungle for their home opener this week against rival East Duplin. The Panthers are undefeated, but found themselves in an overtime defensive battle last week on the road in Richlands. While my Tigers was in a battle of their own against 5a Southern Nash. Unlike the Panthers, my Tigers didn't come home with the victory. As they let a two score lead in the 4th quarter slip away. My Tigers fought hard to the very end, and had a chance to win, but missed a last second field goal. Now it's a quick turnaround for both teams, as they should be prepared for another battle that both were in last week. For my Tigers , this one is personal, and our focus this week has to be on stopping the Panther's rushing attack. East Duplin's and Southern Nash's offense are very similar, so they're going to run it right at us again. Unlike the Firebirds, the Panthers will have more guys playing on both sides of the ball like us. So both teams will be fighting with fatigue late in the 4th quarter. I believe my Tigers will be ready to finish this one, and not be outscored 32-14 in the 4th quarter again. Look for my Tigers to take the Panthers 0 from them Friday night in Warsaw. ED 7 JK 28

My take:
1-3 I agree.
4 I think the Pender game is closer
5 I love the P VS NJ prediction. I want to go NJ but you can’t bet against McPhatter.
6 I like Midway
7 I think the score would be like this too but everytime I do ED makes me look foolish. I definitely see a close game but I do got JK!

This one is looking interesting after NJ with a big win last week. I still dont think they will beat the potent princeton rushing attack.

I think this could be a great game. Midway has been extremely impressive esepcially on offense to this point in the season. I think this could be their best test yet though. Give me midway in a close one

GOTW JK vs ED
This sets up to be the best game of the week and maybe the best game of the young season in the Duplin/Sampson/Wayne county area. ED is the undefeated heavy weight with a lot of offseason hype around them. JK is comin off a nice season but i think folks are trying to figure out if they really good or not at this point. ED has beat WRH, a good princeton team and the mighty richlands wildcats, who had a great year last year and I believe are only getting better. That was a statement win for ED while Jk lost to a Southern Nash team who may not quite be to richlands caliber. JK looked good in the scrimmages, but they beat a Southern wayne team who is very bad and they lost at southern nash last week. I expected them to win that game as I dont believe Southern Nash is as good of a team as East Duplin is or as some of the opponents ED has beat. I was impressed with JK in their scrimmages, but not so far in game action. the opposite is true of ED. I trust game results over scrimmage results. I think from what ive seen , ED is the better coached, more talented, more experienced, bigger and stronger football team. I think they roll Jk in this one. I think the panthers could be primed for another state championship run.

JK is probably at least a 5-7 point favorite in this matchup. The ED/Richlands result was a much bigger surprise to most compared to the JK/SN game. Overall, ED has played the tougher schedule in the early going but Southern Nash is probably better than anyone ED has faced and Southern Wayne is much worse than anyone ED has played.

Should be a good game but I would be shocked if ED won by 21 points. I think you might be trying to add bulletin board material for someone in Warsaw.

I'm an ED fan and think certain parts of this team are still developing. By the end of the year if ED is healthy they should be rolling. JK is going to be best team they have played so far with only Jacksonville next week as tough in their regular season. They will be prepared and I like their chances. No score prediction

Yeah, I was wondering what was you thinking. Southern Nash would probably beat everyone that East Duplin has played by 21+. The difference in the game last week was they had fresh legs in the 4th, and our kids went both ways. So what's your prediction on the game now?

Yeah, good game to your Panthers, they didn't quit! I thought it was going to get ugly when we got up 21-0, but those boys wouldn't lay down. I think that ED has a great shot at the 4a east as well.
