HA HA HA HA

Oh man, The AV Club's final thoughts on "The U" from a few years ago included this one bullet point:

- Bernie Kosar: Drunk?

The guy is both a little too loud and kind of slurs his speech now, which is sad, and a reminder that if you sell your soul to The U, things can turn out a little less than ideal.

I don't. Gebbia has got wheels. He's not the usual freshman. He knows what to do out there. I expect him to be the starter when Lee leaves. It's not that O'Brien is bad mind you, but I think Gebbia is going to be extraordinary.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. Barring Lee getting a catastrophic injury or somehow not panning out, I see O'Brien being passed up for Gebbia after Lee is done (or if Lee leaves after 1 year for whatever reason). I think Lee is a solid QB, O'Brien is still developing and probably going to wind up being better than Lee (so a definite starter and future NFL-caliber talent), but Gebbia is likely going to be one of the best QB's playing college ball in the whole country in a couple of years. That kid has some advanced skills for someone so young.

If POB doesn't transfer this summer he will be here for the long haul.

Already used his redshirt, would have to sit out a year, which counts against his 4 left, leaving him 3 to play. If he left after this semester it makes sense 4 to play 3. He would still have high school tape to be evaluated.

If he comes back next year and isn't the starter. He is a 3 to play 2 guy and all of a sudden his high school tape is three seasons old, he wouldn't have put much college play on film and he would give off the impression that he doesn't want to compete with Gebbia for the job in the future.

Anything after that season and he would have to drop yo FCS level to play right away. No FBS school is going to pay 2 years of scholarship for 1 year of playing time. Especially for a guy who lost 2 QB competitions and has minimal college game experience or film to evaluate.

The transfer window is small for a player that already redshirted.

The kid has great feet. His first pass to the TE that was dropped is a great example as he had to stop his back pedal and set his feet to throw if you want consistent accuracy and he did that SO quickly.

This is why I felt he should have played last year when Tommy was hurt. If he was the real deal the job would have been his from there on out. If he wasn't going to be our starter he could redshirt somewhere else and use it as a transfer year. Now he is kind of stuck.

So you would have determined if he was the "real deal" after a couple of games with a patchwork OLine? We will have to agree to disagree there. With Lee on campus this spring is still a battle for the job regardless to how he did in games he may have played in last year. It will be hard to convince me that the best move was to play him in relatively meaningless games where he may not have affect the outcome.

I think he and the coaches would have learned a lot. He would have had nearly two months in the starters role working everyday as the number one. If Lee starts now, he may not get any meaningful action until heading into his junior year...if then. Better to find out early than late where you stand.

Don't you think that was the determination the coaches made? I am not sure how you can compare "where you stand" to a freshman and a red-shirt year. If he does well this year if given the opportunity, then the line will be "see, I told you he should have been starting last year" but there is no way to measure what the difference a year makes and coaching.

I don't want to bag on POB, but had he came in last January and worked as hard as he did this spring, he may have been given more of a shot going into last fall camp.

But he came in with the mindset that he was going to redshirt and prepared like a redshirt. He was also butt hurt that the brought in Tanner Lee.

Also you are exaggerating the amount of starters reps. He would have had two weeks going into Maryland and Iowa and then 15 bowl practices. That's barely a month.

I get where you are coming from, I just don't believe he prepared himself to be a starter from the time he got here until after the season was over.

Some of that is on him.

BS... Prove that POB is butt hurt over Tanner Lee being asked to come into the program...

That is all you're say.

Nah. He's a statue. Hell our current qb's cannot move at more than a slow walking pace.

You don't toss your redshirt for a couple of measly games.

If POB was butt hurt they brought Lee in, he is either over it or does a damn good job of lying about it. When interviewed by BTN during the game, he said he and Lee were "friends" and that they encourage one another to get better. He also went on to say he'd be disappointed if he didn't won the job, but I didn't detect any butt hurtedness.

My comments were directed at his attitude when he came to campus in January 2016. When he arrived, Wilson had already decommitted and was headed to Oregon, Armstrong and Fyfe were going to be seniors and he was going to redshirt, then be the man. 3 weeks later, Lee announces the transfer and POB wasn't happy about it. He didn't have an exceptional spring last year because he didn't prepare like he was going to be the starter in the fall.

I apologize if my comments suggested he was still upset about Lee. That was not the intent.

We were discussing why his redshirt wasn't pulled for the last 2 games and I was just relaying information that was shared with me about POB from last January and early parts of fall camp. I was told that if he had worked as hard last spring as he did the latter half of the fall and this spring, he may well have not redshirted at all.

Take from it what you will.

No worries, thanks for clarifying. I value your input. What you said previously just didn't seem to square with the way things are now, but you're right: you never said POB still felt that way.

Wrong

Plenty of facts. I'm just not going to provide you with the audio recording of my conversations or copies of the emails.

Fine if you have that much proof I'll leave it at that...
Don't mean to call you a liar just question where you came up with the idea that he was what you said.

It's cool.

I have no reason to make **** up on the board. If I didn't have solid knowledge it was true I would not have said anything or would have made sure to phrase it so it was clearly an opinion. I am pretty careful with the little information I get. I have no desire for that well to go dry.

I honestly hope the Russians don't get to the information you are willfully withholding, because its pertinance seems paramount.
