Investigators say Samuel Williams, one of the customers, pulled out his own handgun and shot the robbers. Both robbers began running toward the front door, and the patron fired several more shots as they fled.

to account for the fact that the situation is chaotic and loaded with testosterone and adrenaline in addition to one of them packing. If I was his lawyer and the GJ decided to indict (which there's no way in hell they will), I'd be arguing "who's to say the suspects were not prepared to stop and return fire?" I'd also argue, "who's to say they were not prepared to return after a brief retreat?"

And I say that as a conceal carry holder, and advocate. That situation could have gone much differently. Just because you have a firearm, doesn't mean you ought to use it every time you feel threatened. Shooting at another as they run away is generally frowned upon.

All that said, I wasn't there, it happened in about 8 seconds, and the cameras only show us a couple perspectives. Probably a classic case for prosecutorial discretion.

Or at least that he hasn't been yet. I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up having to defend himself in a civil suit though. And I think you said it a lot better than I could have. I don't have any problem at all with self-defense laws. I do have a bit of a problem with shooting someone in the back as they're running away though.

The other patrons or the idiots? If the idiot, then what is their argument? "Old white people aren't supposed to have guns when we try to rob them?" "We are supposed to be able to rob folks at gun point without expectation of being harmed ourselves?"

Unless an innocent bystander got hurt physically in some way, I don't think anybody has any grounds for a civil suit.

Just look at all the trouble the guy in Florida is in and, from all accounts that I've read, he probably did legitimately act in self-defense.</p>

As long as they have a weapon and are at the scene then they deserve to be shot, even in the back as they are running for the door.It all happens so quick and you never know what could happen if he was to stop shooting.I could see it maybe being an issue, if he chased them outside and kept shooting. Not the case here tho. Bravo to this man. My only complaint would be that he missed all the vital organs.</div>

Trayvon Martin didn't have a weapon on him and it wasn't caught on camera. That's a tough case because only one person knows exactly whathappened. Trayvon isn't here to give his side of the story and there is not video proof of what exactly happened.

and not trying to rob anybody. And for some reason getting shot in the *** as opposed to taking a round or two in the back seems to stroke most people's sense of justice.......

There is something funny about getting shot in the ***. I don't feel sorry for these guys at all. But we need to be very careful about crossing the line between self-defense and vigelante justice. And this is pretty close to the line at the very least.

None of us were there. Maybe this cat is retired special ops and was 100% in control. My only point is, pulling a gun isn't always the smartest move, even if you "feel" justified. How about if these turds decided to return fire and took out some customers? How about someone was hit as the vigilante shot out the door.

Also, I'm pretty sure you don't know me or my views on firearms and conceal carry, chief.
