Taft played Friday night at home under the lights on their new field. Taft legend, Rose Bowl MVP and first round NFL draft choice Jim Grabowski was in attendance. There was a ton of hoopla for good reason. I’ve lived in the neighborhood my entire life and never remember a home football game for the Taft varsity.

I’m wondering if some public league experts can help me here. When, if ever has Taft played a home football game before last night?

Yeah I’m sure being able to play only one night game a year they are really jealous
I think the reason St Pats looses the top area athletes to other Catholic Schools is no home football field. So I think the new field for Taft on campus will give that school a big boost.

As mentioned in another thread, MS Mc altered my commute home in Friday at 5:30 ... went the Canfield route and Taft was packed early, it seemed from across the expressway.

In talking to people that were there and looking at the social media posts, it sounds like it was a great event at Taft. If you are a student, being able to have your own stadium and have that type of event at your own high school on a Friday night or even a Saturday afternoon beats sharing a stadium any day.
