Taft - Simeon Schedule Snafu

Not that it would impact results much, but there is a rumor that Taft may have forfeited its game last night vs. Simeon at Gately with Taft blaming a master schedule error in which the game was scheduled for tonight.

I hope its not a "Payton-Brooks night baseball game" issue with regard to Taft.

If it was Simeon trying to rest players, they could have went with all 2nd stringers and played slow with the clock and next week, pull the John Potocki (CVS coach after O'Brien) and tank the CPS playoff game to rest up for state.

The master schedule definitely had Gately double booked for tonight with the Simeon/Taft and Morgan Park/Hubbard games. I called Morgan Park coach Terry Atkins earlier this week to confirm they were playing tonight. Happened to me earlier this season with a lower tier CPS game as well. Would be nice for the IHSA to get its **** together in this regard.

John Potocki, haven't heard that name in a long while. He was coaching while I was at CVS back in the day.

I'm not sure I understand this whole Taft forfeit issue. Can anyone enlighten me ? Apologies to UlbKA91 and Prep writer but I'm not sure what the issues were surrounding this game.

Taft didn't show up to play on Thursday when the game was scheduled, therefore it is a forfeit. The game was originally scheduled for friday but was changed awhile ago and all the schedules for the upcoming week are emailed to the coaches where they are then verified by the coaching staffs. If there any conflicts at that time they are then dealt with. Apparently, Taft has not been reading their emails.

My guess is they used it as an excuse to avoid getting 60 or 70 hung on them.

They are already dropping to the 2nd "Chicago" division. If this was a wormy forfeit they should get dropped to the Inter-City for 2 seasons.
