It shows MSU needing to go 11-12 the rest of the way to make the "field of 45". At large teams will be added to that number, I assume. This was updated this morning at 8:30am, so I would assume our number now is 10-12. Boyd isn't exact, but he does a hell of a job with this site. It also gives you somewhat of an understanding of what record you will need to possibly be a national top 8 seed as well.

#44 in Boyd's World with only a 17-15 record. This, obviously, is b/c we have played a very difficult schedule so far. With high RPI games remaining, if we start putting some "Ws" on the board, our RPI will skyrocket.

With tonight's win, I would assume we would move up to at least 40 in the RPI.

If we win 10, that would be 28 wins, which would put us at 28-27, assuming we don't make up the Nicholls State forfeit and Valley rainout.

This weekend is going to dictate what we need to do the rest of the way.

If we can win seven SEC games in our last six SEC series, sweep MTSU, and beat Memphis in Memphis, that would be 10. The Governor's Cup is going to be big for us to- bigger for us than Ole Miss. It would be a very nice win for us. If we don't play well at Knoxville this weekend, it's going to make SBW that much bigger.

Also, how we finish in the SEC is going to dictate whether we make a regional or not. I feel like we get in if we finish 9th or higher. 10th, definately on the bubble, probably the wrong side, and 11th or lower, probably not even if we win 30. I can't see them taking more than 10, and I think 10 may be wishful thinking, but I do think it's possible.

The trick there is to remain above .500.

In 2007, Florida had an RPI in either the high 20s or the low 30s at the end of the season, but I believe they finished right at .500 overall, and there is a stipulation that says you have to be above .500 to get in the NCAA tournament as an at large. So, Florida was essentially one win away from an NCAA regional bid, and they missed it because of that rule alone. I remember them talking about that during the SEC tourey that year.

One thing we got going for us is SC,Tenn, KY and Vandy. We can still finish 6th in the West and make the SEC tourney. We have a chance to sweep Tenn and KY and take two of three from Vandy. We are very much on a even playing field there. If we can win these three series and win one of three out of the other two series we are in good shape to make the SEC tourney and you know anything can happen there.

I am as big a homer as anyone on here but I have had a hard time summoning any optimism about this baseball season. I don't have the slightest doubt that Cohen is THE man to lead us back to Omaha but every time I watch a game and see us overthrowing second base into centerfield on a steal attempt, throwing it into the dugout when trying to complete a double play, or blowing 6 run leads, I get so pissed at Polk that I just can't enjoy the games.
I would dearly love to see us even get to Hoover but the memory of getting skulldrug by LA-Monroe and South Alabama is just too fresh in my mind to get my hopes up.

at Hoover, but I don't see us sweeping anyone, even Tn. Not sure we will win 2 out of 3 on any road games. The Au lose was tough as only Bama in the west is our last chance to take the series (on paper). Its possible to be 7th or 8th seeded but pitching.................?

Bama is a good baseball team. I don't know why they haven't done more in SEC play yet. After watching them in Oxford though, I came away fairly impressed overall.
