Taking A Mississippi-cation for a week. Where are don't miss

Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo; even though it doesn't look like it did before he passed away still a neat sight to visit.
( Before his death the park it was in was just an after thought for the city, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a couple of ball fields and oh yes A small house that some singer lived in as a child. The grounds surrounding it might have gotten mowed once a month and the house itself just had a roadside historic marker. Now even though it is the original house; spot lights, fresh landscaping, and kept up very nicely, as a museum piece should be. It is the focal point a nice park and a source of pride for the city.
Some good eats in Tupelo would be South and Neon Pig both on North Gloster.
If you get to Vicksburg the National Battlefield is a must and eat at Walnut Hills for down home family style meals. The round table there is awesome, go hungry. A table for eight, you don't have to have a party that big it is seated as a first come first serve, and is a neat way to meet some of the locals and other travelers. The tables have a lazy susan and should be viewed as a buffet that you don't walk through but rather is served home style via the lazy susan.

Based on the two likes you posted, the Windsor ruins and chicken at The Old Country Store in Lorman are fairly close together and can be packaged together nicely. Windsor is not much, just the old columns of the house. Might throw in Grand Gulf Park while you are in the area. If you are in Vicksburg the Cairo museum is nice if you are interested in the ruins of a Civil War era gunboat.
Spend a night or two at Talahatchie Flats and eat at Giardinias in Greenwood, or stay at the Shack Up Inn in Clarkadale and go to Ground Zero Blues Club and eat at Abe's BBQ. Both Talahatchie Flats and Shack Upp have old shotgun houses moved from old farms and restored with AC and running water. The Shack up has an old cotton gin that has been converted to an Inn.

I agree with this - great history.
Plan for a couple days on the coast. Pick the best weather day and spend that day on one of the best beaches in Mississippi (Ship Island). As a bonus, Fort Massachusetts is on the island too. Click this for the ferry schedule and fares. The other day you're down here, plan to go to Beauvoir, the Biloxi Visitor's Center and Lighthouse, the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art, and then walk around Ocean Springs with all their shops, eat supper at one of the 100+ restaurants, and then watch the sunset from Fort Maurepas on Front Beach.
There are several good Bed and Breakfasts in the area, including the Oak Crest Mansion Inn in Pass Christian. There also some hotels along the beach from Long Beach to Biloxi. If you plan on staying at a casino, stay during the week. They jack up the rates about 400% on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you make it up in the Delta and like music, the BB King Museum in Indianola is quite good for a couple of hours. It has a lot of history of the Delta Blues, obviously, but also of the state's agricultural history, musical history and civil rights, etc. And there's plenty of hole in the wall places to eat in the area.

Eating myself west toward hwy 61 at the MS-LA corner then up to the trace. Going northeast on trace to AL line. From there to memphis for Gus's chicken then maybe 49 back down toward the coast. I love the old hole in the wall food places. Saw someone mention an old store in Learned - just the places I'm looking for.

Trapanis is pretty good. Claiborne Hill super market has the best and cheapest breakfast you can get in BSL and some top shelf poboys and burgers too. If you want a Poboy go to Da Kitchen. The shrimp that falls off of the sandwich will be enough to make a 2nd meal. Knock Knock Bar in Waveland is fun too, kind of a 'dive' bar but with good food. It's an oyster bar that sells oysters till 2am. Good beer, good charbroiled oysters and karaoke. If you go to Ocean Springs go to The Shed. It's not the best BBQ but it's on the water and a unique experience, plus a good chance at love music on a floating do k. If you go to Hattiesburg go to one of Robert St Johns restaurants, Chesterfields, Keg and Barrel, or Leethas. I live in Oak Grove, if you are in that area let me know and I can give you more specifics.
If near Greenwood, eat at the Crystal Grill (best eatin in MS), if near Philly hit Peggy's and Beatty Street if near Jxn.
Talking about Gibbes' Old Country Store, it is great food, but do your research before going to make sure they're open that day, and most importantly SHOW UP EARLY, or you might wait for hours.
