Would you guys start Fred Ross and Chris Jones? I would. My 24/7 brethren wants to redshirt them smh.

On what prophetic logic are you saying you'd start them? How do you know they are better than the guys atop the depth chart now?

Because they are ballers and eat Swagaroni N Cheese. All the wrs are gone. And the pass rush last season was the worse prolly in organized football ever. You start your ballers bottom line.

Exactly. If they can win a spot on 1st or 2nd string, play them. If not, redshirt. Right now, even the coaches don't know for sure if they will earn playing time this year (although they've got a pretty good idea in most cases).

Fred Ross AKA Junebug is not ready for the complexity of SEC offense. Physically he probably is, but not beyond that. I would say Chris Jones is ready, and should play. I think It'll be ROJO, and Chappelle starting at the WR spots.

You're vastly underrating the complexity of the playbook, schemes, hot reads and audibles on both sides of the ball. If Chris Jones is your best pure pass rusher and it's 3rd and 15 he better be in there. If he struggles to play contain (and we've seen plenty of this over the past few years) then he sits. I think he'll play some but its very hard for a true freshman to be thrown out there at any position.

I love Ross' tape and think he might can crack the rotation and might could start by SEC season but he's got a lot of playbood to digest by then and everyone else he's competing with has a leg up there.

Jones will be a situational player, Ross most likely redshirts. Unless he makes a poor choice of not redshirting like Michael Carr.

Not sure if you've ever played football, but the gaps A-C on each side of the center (add D if the TE is to that side) and routes 1-9 is the same on every level. That includes coverages (cover 0 - 6). The verbiage may be different but football is football on every level my friend.

I met a guy on the film staff for the football team and he based off last year's workouts and this year's workouts he's going to be a beast. Went into detail about how hungry he seems to be to meet expectations.

I want Jones to play like Cox did when he was a true freshman. Maybe a few starts, but mostly getting reps behind a senior.

Lack of pass rush had more to do with the coaching philosophy than the players we had. We will be dramatically improved this year, even if Jones redshirts.

And they probably like that gay baller **** where you come from but most of us would rather see you using the Queen's English here.

My point exactly. Football is football.

If he's as good as they say (and we think) he plays, even if it's limited time behind an upper classman. Hell, if he's that good, he'll probably bolt for the pros after 3 years anyway, so nothing gained by holding him back.

No it's not. Just because the positions are the same and the terminology for the positions is the same doesn't mean there isn't a vast difference in complexity. It takes time to understand the playbook and take the necessary mental and physical reps for most offenses.

I think both will play, but no way they are ready to be Day 1 starters at their positions without injuries in the fall. I think Jones will earn more reps earlier though just b/c of natural ability at a position where in some situations it's an easy assignment.

Neither will redshirt. Fred Ross will start, no doubt about it. Jones will have the most competition for early playing time but will play in game 1.

Is Chris Jones on campus? I read somewhere that he is still in summer school. Is there any worry about him qualifying?

Tony Conner is in a similar boat.

I now he isn't on Campus now...

....but I haven't heard of any threat of him not qualifying. Who knows they?

Might be the same boat as Conner. Conner just has to pass a summer class and he will report in July.

One of those classes you have to try to fail. But you never know with MS kids.

Chris is 1 point shy on his ACT or he can take a summer class like he's doing now to get in. He took the ACT a few weeks ago. He'll be in school in July for 2nd session.

Exactly. A second grade math workbook and an advanced calculus textbook are both just math. But you're not going to see too many people transition from one straight to the other seamlessly.
