Talent-wise we had no business being on the same field as Florida..

they threw the 9th pick in the entire draft today. OSUllivan has made even our good classes look like chumps with the classes he is putting together.

I think things are picking up but it will still be year 5 b/c before we can really get going, as I've said before, of the first recruiting class. We have several holes in the infield that we have no one ready to take over. So I expect the hitting struggles to continue. And fielding may be a struggle too.

We can still battle for the tourney but I see a lot of losses ahead. Maybe we can sneak up on someone and take 2 of 3 but right now, the only winnable series I see are OM and TN. But at this point, there is significant improvement.

Hell, Im interested again and that's a pretty good barometer.

We are in a tough stretch of the SEC schedule- Florida, at Arkansas and then South Carolina, but I also think that we stand a chance to at least win the LSU and Alabama series at home as well as the two series that you mentioned. Other than Sat., we were competitive and we took a game. I can't say that I'm happy with that, but I'm also not upset about it either.

I just hope that a lot of the current freshmen such as Demarcus Henderson take a big step forward next year because we're really going to need them to step up for sure. The good news is that Daryl Norris and Adam Frazier have played a lot this year, so that should benefit us next year as far as the infield goes.

This team isn't any good. Face facts. It'll be a miracle if we make it to Hoover.

We're a well below average team at the plate.
We're average pitching. (Poor staring pitching, pretty good bullpen)
We're average fielding.

I give those assessments in SEC play only.

....the reality here is we had no business choking away this series.

Take away the Saturday meltdown (which, coincidently, all began with another Ogden bed shitting) & MSU played toe-to-toe baseball with UF this weekend.

We were 7th in the SEC in runs scored in SEC play coming into today. There are lots of teams struggling to score runs with the new bats- not just us.

Is a huge leap forward. And pitching is how you win in coll baseball.

In our last four con losses we have given up no more than 4 runs. Add in the sat vandy game and thats five conf losses giving up four runs or less That's phenomenal when you compare it to last year even with the bat change.

We actually led the con in fielding before today but there is no question we are avg there. Still a huge leap from last year. It just really hurts when your ss is as bad as Ogden has become

But the bottom line is pitching is keeping us in games and I love that. Hitting will figure itself out. Playing true freshmen And juices hurts. And yes it's the staffs fault for contiuing to put Collins in the line up

from Routt after game that the staff has discovered that his change up motion is what caused his arm injury and he can no longer throw what was once his most effective out pitch. He said it is a struggle to compete in the SEC with basically one pitch but he is working hard on his slider. I thought the guy gave a great effort and I believe he may be the key to our fortunes this year if we can start hitting a little better also.
