Meyer said that he was about to call a "safe punt" when he saw Mullen do something he does on fakes and implied that is why he called the pressure instead. So, despite the fact that it was going to get blocked if the pitch didn't happen, the pressure wouldn't have been there if not for the fake call, and further the fake would probably have been good if Mullen doesn't give it away from some tell that Meyer knew.

Change is good! Just think back over the last several decades with Msu football and we punt 99.9% of the time, and guess what, we still lose. To see this mind change is a positive and it tells the players and fans we are willing to take a chance. Like Mullen said last night, "our offense wasn't moving the ball".
Great call, no because it didn't work, but a good call cause we got a coach who is willing to take chances. At least Mullen is trying everything to win.

I heard that too, so I chalk it up as much to Myer knowing what was coming as much as the poor execution of the play. The call did bother me at first but I also took it as Dan trying to find something to really turn the game at that point rather than giving it back to Florida. From what I saw on the replay, if the Duece doesn't trip, he had made a good enough move to beat the defenders to the first down marker, but we will never know.

I was really impressed with our defense in the red zone and the play of our freshmen DBs. They laid some licks and played the ball last night which is one part of the defense that was really missing.

The record tempers my enthusiasm a bit, but I am stoked for the future of our program unlike any time in my memory. I can only imagine what we would have done this season with a serviceable QB and seasoned receivers and I expect Dan to fix that as soon as he can get the guys.
