Seems to echo what many here have said about his decision-making
Well, he sort of leaves that open ended, doesn’t he?So where can he go to get comfortable in the pocket?
Here, next year, behind the same OL and yet another OC?
The NFL as a mid round pick?
Another college?

There are some "things" that no coach can fix. How do you coach thinking and processing faster? That's kind of important at the QB position.Seems like under Shula, for the most part he would tend to hang on to the ball too long... basically asking the OL to do something they could not do. Now imo it appears he is trying to get rid of the ball quicker, exposing his accuracy as not all that with his timing being off. If there is such a thing as an uncomfort zone, he has found it and I kinda think overcoaching put him there. I'd like to see him find a groove and have some fun out there (which definitely seems to be lacking) but then again, I'd like to see someone else getting some quality time being we are not going bowling. That said I have no confidence the coaches will go with the latter.

I would be ok with that. Who will be here the longest? Woods? But will everybody bail after the season? This. Won't happen though. Sellers is gone one way or the other. Season is over. He needs to be benched and get the younger guys who will be here next year (probably) some playing time against Coastal. Maybe you re-start Sellers for Clemson but on a very short leash. You are right though, we won't do that because it makes entirely too much sense. Starting Sellers and sleep walking to a victory over Coastal helps no one.
Time for a new QB.
I would like to see Woods. Pure QB / passer, imho.I would be ok with that. Who will be here the longest? Woods? But will everybody bail after the season?
Absolutely. Get the ball out in your playmakers’ hands; don’t have to be Dan Marino. I don’t know if the powers that be want $4M sitting on the bench though.I would like to see Woods. Pure QB / passer, imho.
I don't think it's the powers that be's $4 mil.Absolutely. Get the ball out in your playmakers’ hands; don’t have to be Dan Marino. I don’t know if the powers that be want $4M sitting on the bench though.
I am not comfortable with that. You go with a backup QB with limited reps this late in the season and you could mess around and lose to Coastal. Of course, the kid (Woods) could shine, but you don't need to be playing russian roulette with the one game the team could win and gain some form of good feeling going into the finale. Let Sellers play it on out and re-assess after the season. That is what Spring practice is for. As a guy that really banged the table for Sellers as a top-level prospect this year, I think his camp should really re-assess the talk of going into the NFL draft right now. His move is to transfer to another college if anything. Hope he stays, but he is just not ready for the NFL. His processing of the field has gotten worse, his accuracy is worse. Seems to be avoiding contact at all costs instead of playing football. He is just not playing the position well right now. Just needs to have a re-set and focus on a better junior year wherever that may be. I am afraid the NFL could go in the Anthony Richardson direction if enters the draft now.I would be ok with that. Who will be here the longest? Woods? But will everybody bail after the season?
I can't just pretend this season isn't lost. I actually want to keep the young quarterbacks.I am not comfortable with that. True, but you can pare down some of the things you've given him to think about. There are some "things" that no coach can fix. How do you coach thinking and processing faster? That's kind of important at the QB position.
You should keep them. One game against Coastal is not going to assure Woods stays. For Beamer and for the program, you need to win that Coastal game going into the finale. Throwing that game up in the air could result in an atrocity and we would be re-setting everything. Go with your best, get the Coastal game and maybe you can pull the upset against Clemson. This team has been good enough to be competitive with some of the best teams in the country. We just haven't won any of them. Hopefully, you can get up by 3-4 TDs and Woods gets to play anyway.I can't just pretend this season isn't lost. I actually want to keep the young quarterbacks.
That would pretty much be running the wildcat.True, but you can pare down some of the things you've given him to think about.

For sure, it's in his best interest.I think Sellers goes to another program next year.
You're the only one I've seen here that's said one game. As a fan I want to beat Coastal. We are obviously going to disagree about what's best for Beamer and what's best for the program. You should keep them. One game against Coastal is not going to assure Woods stays.
Yes, I do want Woods to beat Coastal.Adcoop actually has a point about Woods. If we tinker around too much with coastal, we could lose. And then woods is probably in the portal anyway as we change the staff.
I get what youre saying about playing the younger guys. It may even show Woods youre sold on him as the guy going into next season. That could work, and a win against coastal could go a long way for that.
Beside the point.I don't think it's the powers that be's $4 mil.
May I ask you an honest question? (Because I'm not going to dig through old threads to find the answer)You should keep them. One game against Coastal is not going to assure Woods stays. Did you see Shedeur Sanders try to play QB yesterday without ever getting reps with the 1s in practice. Woods is not even the backup QB. So, he is not getting any reps. You would be just throwing him out there. Not in the best interests of Woods or the team. It would tell the team you are basically tanking the season. How can you tell the players not to quit when you make a coaching decision showing that you have quit.Yes, I do want Woods to beat Coastal.![]()
It was a point that you obviously thought needed to be made.Beside the point.
Yes, I have said bowl games are meaningless, but that is as a viewer. That doesn't apply to a team playing a season out. If I subscribed to that, I would say every starter should just quit just because we are losing. I have never said that. Don't embarrass yourself and lose to Coastal just because the season hasn't gone well. If you have some defections for the draft, that is how today's game works, but I don't support that. Play it out and you still can get something out the season. Don't just lay down and let Clemson roll you.May I ask you an honest question? (Because I'm not going to dig through old threads to find the answer)
Are you in the camp that says if you're not in the playoffs, the bowl games are meaningless?
Because as of right now, the season is over. The very best result?? a 5-7 LOSING RECORD.
Worst result? a 3-9 LOSING RECORD. - Either way, = losing record.
Coastal game is likewise meaningless. Beamer and Sellers have had their chance/s and they have blown all of them. Why do either one deserve any more????? No, I'm sorry. The season is over. Only thing that can possibly be salvaged at this point is next season....and the only way that happens is by getting Woods and younger players some reps against some semi-meaningful competition. Sellers will either transfer or go to the NFL. Either way, he's gone. (And Sellers transferring would be the most damning evidence against Beamer to date.)
I suppose you could make an argument for starting Sellers against Clemson....but if the objective is to protect Sellers health, (which has seemed to be the case all season), then benching him and letting Woods or some other QB have a shot against Coastal makes the most sense all the way around. It's the right move. But again, it doesn't matter because we're not going to do that anyway. We're incapable of doing the right thing on that football field.
I already conceded that we disagree.Did you see Shedeur Sanders try to play QB yesterday without ever getting reps with the 1s in practice. Woods is not even the backup QB. This is actual real, high stakes football. This is not Playstation. What has Sellers done to make you think he would ever play another position and take a hit. All I have seen this year is him looking for somewhere to slide as soon as he reaches the second level.I already conceded that we disagree.
And I'm not saying not to play Sellers. But line him up in different positions. Don’t even get cutsy throwing the ball. Throw him some short passes. They'll look better on his end than the ones he throws. Put him on a linebacker and hit him in stride and see what happens. Let the defense worry about him while others get open. That's his NFL future. He has no NFL future as a quarterback.
I really need to know what program is paying players. My question to the board as a guy in Sellers corner. What program pays 4 million plus for this mess of a season that Sellers has had. Truthfully, if were Miami, I would be looking at other guys. Sellers has a world of potential, but flashes of potential shouldn't be worth 4 million plus. Wherever he goes, he may have to compete for a position. That was his play has said this year.
He's a tremendous athlete but not a quarterback at the next level. He better hope it's like Playstation or he has no football future. This is actual real, high stakes football. True, but you can pare down some of the things you've given him to think about.
For whatever reason, Sellers seems less "predatory" this year. I don't know any other way to describe it. He made a very nice run the other day and immediately slid down after getting the first down despite having some open field in front of him. I think last year's Sellers would have attacked the opportunity to try to get a big gain there.
Perhaps the term you're looking for is that this year he is more "risk-averse"?
He's a tremendous athlete but not a quarterback at the next level. He better hope it's like Playstation or he has no football future.
We'll see. Even the practice squad would be a better job than I've ever had. But it's typically not what people dream about.I bet he can get an NFL team to draft him. Then his lack of a football future will include retirement money in his mid 20's.
